About this listing
Private, comfortable apartment in West Seattle. Close to the water (Puget Sound). Short walk to a small, waterfront park and one block more to one of the largest Seattle parks, with about 2 miles of waterfront, and a salt water, outdoor, public pool (Memorial Day through Labor Day).
I have a lovely apartment on the ground level of my house. It's newly remodeled and has views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Very private and quiet, bright and light. You'll have the place to yourself, but if you need anything, I live upstairs!
The apartment is comfortable and cozy, with books, magazines, and whatever else I might think of. The bed is a comfortable queen size bed with a foam topper, cozy comforter and all cotton linens. The bathroom has a nice stack of all cotton towels.
I've lived in Seattle a long time and can help arrange activities and suggest destinations. There's really so much to do that you'll probably have to narrow it down. If you are looking for outdoor activities, there are many hiking trails in the two close by mountain ranges (The Olympic Mountains to the West and the Cascade Mountain Range to the East). If you head west you can visit the rain forest and the ocean! North to beautiful country and farmlands, and after 1 1/2 hours, Canada! To the south there's Tacoma (45 minutes) with many great museums, and southeast to Mount Rainier. In the winter, head east to several ski areas. People come from all over to enjoy both the downhill skiing and cross country trails.
Seattle is known for it's theater scene, live music and restaurants. Too many to enjoy in a short visit, but you'll have your pick. Right here in the West Seattle neighborhood, within one mile there are many restaurants, bars, shops, live theater.
Small kitchen with 2 burner cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and toaster and small, but efficient oven. If you have special needs, please let me know in advance.
Farmer's market 1 mile away, every Sunday.
Bathroom has a single stall shower (no bathtub). All sheets, towels, paper supplies for kitchen and bath supplied, as well as towels and bed linens, for stays of 2 weeks or less. (If the stay is longer, I will provide the first 2 weeks of these supplies.)
If you have a very little one with you, there is a portable crib and high chair available for your use.
!/4 mile walk to one of the largest parks in Seattle, with lots of beach access and a salt water swimming pool (open from Memorial Day through Labor Day). One mile to an area of shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. Downtown Seattle is about 7 miles.
The West Seattle water taxi takes 10 to 15 minutes to downtown Seattle.
Checkin is 4:00 p.m. and checkout is 11:00 a.m.
(Please do not invite extra guests. This rental is for the original guests only, and not suitable for parties or any other social activities including more than a couple of friends.)
I created the kind of space I would be happy to stay in, so I hope you will be happy here too.
Please ask about rates for longer term stays.
Guests have access to the patio area in front of their front door, and a deck off the patio with tables and chairs. There is an outdoor fireplace for very careful people! In the summer often there are burn bans, so it might not be useable. You can also use beach chairs, cooler, and beach umbrellas if you'd like.
Interaction with guests
I assume most people would like privacy for their visit, and we don't interfere with that. I'm available for help if needed, and always like to hear if there is something that would improve your stay.
West Seattle, while a part of the City of Seattle, has it's own small town feel. Neighborly, friendly and helpful people.
We have the best in grocery shopping (PCC, Trader Joe's, and at least 4 other supermarkets.)
Of course there are many coffee shops. There's an old, historic movie theater that is being remodeled into a four plex and is now showing first run films. The upstairs area has a beer/wine bar! Sip while you watch!
We also have a nice, new live theater with several stages for all sorts of performances. There is often a Broadway type show on the main stage, and maybe jazz in a smaller area. The theater has an art gallery on the main floor.
There are numerous restaurants of all types, many in the less expensive range. Something for everyone.
One huge waterfront park (Lincoln Park) and many smaller parks scattered around the neighborhood. This is a great walking and biking area. Along the beach area on the north end of West Seattle you can rent all sorts of bikes and boats; check out Wheel Fun Rentals.
The public transportation is a bus system. There is one bus line that is very close, but limited in its schedule. There are other bus lines, but you would need to walk a minimum of 1/2 mile to get to a bus stop. They can take you downtown, or elsewhere.
Most of my guests do choose to rent a car. There is parking for one average size car. Uber has become a good alternative and might compete with the cost of a rental car for city trips.
The West Seattle water taxi takes 10 to 15 minutes to downtown Seattle. You can check it out here:
Other things to note
The house is on a narrow, curvy lane. Traffic goes both ways so it is important to drive carefully and be prepared to pull off to the side if needed to allow another car to proceed. Speed limit is 15 mph!
No smoking of any kind indoors, please. No incense burning. Pets only under certain circumstances, and approved before renting. Rental for named guests only. Please don't invite others. No parties. (This is a very quiet location.) There is parking for one average size car or small SUV. If you have another size vehicle, please let me know before booking and I will explain where you can park.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
I've stayed at AirBnb lodgings and it worked out just great. I have two grown kids and the best granddaughter ever.
I've lived in Seattle a long time so I can help you with places to go and things to do, directions and transportation, if you want.
I look forward to meeting you.
