The Space

Our neighborhood is like a small village in the middle of San Francisco. The shops are small and owned by local business people. We know our neighbors and spend a lot of time outdoors, in the cafes, shops or parks. You will meet mostly locals around here but we love to host visitors.
There are no hotels nearby.
This is a very comfortable room with a queen size bed in a 4 bedroom house. Guests bathroom is shared with other guests but not with hosts. Kitchen, Living Room & Dining Room are shared with host family & guests.
We furnish clean linens. Help yourself to coffee and tea. We leave out a continental breakfast of bread, jam, nutella, fruit, cereal.
We have two guest rooms available and can host up to 4 people at a time. Please see our listing "San Francisco Family Friendly Share" if you are looking for a place for more than 2 people or if you are traveling with children.
In the heart of Bernal Heights part of San Francisco Mission neighborhood. Near Liberty Cafe, Sand Box Bakery, Vega, Moki's, Red Hill Books, shopping, galleries, restaurants,Yoga, Pilaties, massage, library. Playground one block away. Muni bus line 24 stops right outside or bring your car, there is plenty of free street parking. Take the Muni bus to 24th street BART station. No neighborhood parking permits required. No "2 hour parking limits" like in other San Francisco neighborhoods.
We sleep in the back of the house and use a separate entrance so this is a perfect place to rest after a long flight or time on the road.
Our cat, Coco does not go in the bedrooms.
There is absolutely NO SMOKING anywhere on the property indoors or out!!
We don't have TV or Cable but we offer free wireless internet.

  • Mary & Kingmond are wonderful, friendly hosts who are a pleasure to talk with. Their home is a well kept, peaceful place in the heart of Bernal Heights. The bed is very comfortable and I appreciate having a desk in the room that I can work at when I travel for business. I felt like a local!

    Thank you, Mary & Kingmond!

  • Mary and Kingmond were fantastic hosts. This was my first experience with airbnb and I would highly recommend staying with them. The room was clean and nicely furnished, and their home in general was lovely. Location was especially convenient for having a car as there was plenty of parking.

  • What can I say! Staying with Mary, K, & Olivia was the most amazing experience I've ever had. From the moment I arrived they made me feel welcome and comfortable. They are such a friendly and unique family living in beautiful, meticulous home in adorable Bernal Heights! Such a comfy bed with ample storage for all your things. The location was great for me...just a hop, skip, and a jump on the Muni to locations around the city. I was visiting my daughter, and I could walk down the hill to Mission or take the 24 and be there in a couple of minutes! The location was great for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the many conversations we had in their amazing kitchen learning about each others' lives and experiences. I loved the decor of the fully equipped kitchen where I enjoyed a buffet of seasonal fruits, cereals, breads, yogurts, jellies, jams, teas, and most of all my coffee that I could have anytime of the day or night. Mary & K were exceptional hosts that gave me insight and tips of where to go and how to get there in their fabulous city of San Francisco!!! The view from Bernal Heights Hill is not to be missed...Incredible! There is no doubt that I would stay there again in my next visit to San Francisco. Thanks for being such amazing hosts and for all your thoughtfulness in making my stay so memorable! =) Debbie Miles

  • I wish I could have stayed with Mary and Kingmond longer, and if given the chance, I definitely will. Bernal Heights is an awesome location with the feeling of a small downtown, but walking distance to the action and attractions of the Mission District.
The breakfast spread that Mary laid out each morning was the perfect way to start my day.
The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable.
Airbnb experiences like these make me never want to stay at a traditional hotel ever again.

  • Mary and her family have such a nice home and are really sweet people. Nice and quiet neighborhood with a grocery store, bakeries, restaurants, cafes etc. close. Good access to public transportation, comfortable and clean room, excellent breakfast (mostly organic). Mary really takes good care of her guests. 100% recommended. I loved it!

  • We had great time during our stay - room was clean, bright, decorated with a good taste and had a very comfortable bed. Our hosts were easy going and very helpful. We loved the all organic breakfast which gave us the necessary energy every morning. The flat was 10 min walk from the Mission area (great murals, nice little shops and cafes) and 45 min by bus to the down town (financial district and Ferry building).

  • Staying with the Young family was amazing and I would highly recommend it. It was so interesting and fun to stay with a local family in a typical San Francisco neighborhood!

You can easily reach downtown by public transport. The 24 bus leaves on the opposite side of the road. After a short bus ride, you can take the subway to Powell station.

Mary's breakfast was the best we had during our 6-weeks of traveling. Bagels, fresh fruit, cereals - always a great start in the day. The place is very clean, nicely furnished and we got new towels after a few days.

  • We just loved it!
Mary, Kingmond and their daughter were great hosts. They were extremely friendly, helpful and always in the mood to talk to us. We loved the way they care for us!
The room is exactly as described and very nice as the whole house is. Breakfast is just amazing with fresh fruits and home-made cakes.
We definitely want to come back one day! I guess there is no better place to stay. I can only highly recommend it to all San Francisco visitors.

  • Mary and K were very nice and friendly hosts. The breakfast including fresh fruits and yogurt was really great.
The room and the whole house have a really good atmosphere. Our room was located right next to the bathroom which makes it a bit noisy because it was also used by other guests.
We enjoyed our stay a lot!
