The greenway is the longest off-road cycle and walking trail in Ireland. Built upon the old railway line between Achill Sound in the north and Westport to the southeast of clew bay, it extends for 43.5 km (27 miles) . I love the fact that you can walk down to the quay area and see the boats, or go for a walk down to Westport house. We also have a nice flat walk into town along an old railway line which has been made in to a walking and cycling way.
There is a train station and buses come from all over Ireland. Free private parking at my house.

There is no smoking in the house. Smoking outside with ashtray only.. If you are cooking please put dishes in dishwasher and tidy up after you, thanks. No pets allowed. I would prefer if guests would not wear outdoor shoes upstairs. I can provide indoor shoes for guests, crocks.
Ruth worked very hard to make our stay the most comfortable. She purchased breakfast items of our preference and was kindly concerned with our comfort. Wish we could have taken a spin on her nice bicycles but the weather did not cooperate.
Ruth's home is a nice 10 minute walk to the city center, along a very well developed walking/biking trail. It is also a much shorter walk to the shops, pubs and stores along the quay. Whatever you do, don't miss Westport House if you want to see real, lived-in Irish history.
Ruth is a delightful host, interesting, informative, passionate about the history and politics of Ireland, recent and past. I very much enjoyed my stay, and will again.
We had a fantastic time in Westport and our stay with Ruth really was a highlight of the trip. Lovely accomodation, amazing hostess, very central location and the bikes were a brilliant exta touch. We will hopefully be back again Ruth... And fingers crossed for some sunshine next time :)
Ruth was my introduction to airb&b and it couldn't have been better. she was very generous with her time and made me feel totally welcomed. Each morning I looked out my bedroom window and say Croagh Patrick. The location of her house is excellent very close to the harbor with excellent restaurants and shops and a short walk along the greenway to town. the house was cozy and I enjoyed having access to the kitchen whenever I needed. I enjoyed my chats with Ruth .
She has 2 bikes that are free to use. It was really nice to use the bikes to ride (a part of) the Greenway. At your self-service breakfast was freshly made Orange Juice that was delicious. Ruth lives close to downtown, easily to walk (or use the bikes). The bed was comfortable and a nice room with a lot of brochures of things to do in the area. Also there was enough parking for your car and good free WiFi. The area where Ruth lives is quiet and private.
I had great time staying with Ruth, she is very welcoming and kind. She gave lots good advise abOut visiting Co. Mayo.I had the double room, it's very comfortable. It's a nice closy Irish house. Location is about 25 minutes walk to Westport city centre, but there is free bike provided if you fancy cycling.
