Or you can cycle on the 2 bikes I provide. You can cycle on the 42klm greenway route or you can cycle to Croagh Patrick. It is a 5minute walk to the Quay area and Westport House. There are pubs and restaurants at the Quay. There is a big supermarket 3mins from my door. Westport is a unique and charming heritage town. It was voted best place to live in in Ireland by Irish Times readers in 2012. Ireland West Airport is 1hr away, Shannon Airport 2and half hrs, Dublin Airport 4hrs away. Westport has lots of outdoor activities to offer, eg. Gael Force, Sea2Summit . You can also avail of boat trips from the quay area. No visit to Westport would be complete without a visit to Croagh Patrick (The Reek) which is a 10 mins drive away. The newly established great western greenway starts in Westport. The greenway is the longest off-road cycle and walking trail in Ireland. Built upon the old railway line between Achill Sound in the north and Westport to the southeast of clew bay, it extends for 43.5 km (27 miles) . It also won 1st prize at the European greenways development completion(URL HIDDEN)When you are tired out after all the activities you can relax either in my home, or you can visit some of the many restaurants in town or at the quay. If you are cooking dinner I will provide fresh organic vegetables from my garden when in season. After dinner you can use the front sitting room to relax by the fire and watch a film, or you can stroll into town to visit some of the many music pubs. Ruth's place was the perfect base for our visit to Westport. Ruth is really welcoming and full of excellent recommendations of where's best to eat or catch some live music on any night of the week. You can borrow bikes to explore the greenway and sticks to help you climb Croke Patrick. Ruth kindly supplies all the breakfast essentials and during our 3 night stay we were treated to delicious freshly squeezed orange juice every morning along with strawberries and tomatoes that were straight from the garden. Ruth is a lovely lady and a great host, I can't wait to visit again.

Had a lovely few nights in Westport. Ruth was a great host and left some lovely bits for breakfast. Bikes were an added bonus to cycle to Greenway. Plenty to do in Westport and some fab restaurants. Great treat! Would definitely recommend!

Where to start! I have so many things to praise about this accommodation and its host Ruth. Ruth went above and beyond as a host and really made our stay in Westport that extra bit special. She picked us up at the bus stop even though check-in wasn't for another few hours, and gave us a quick tour of Westport and the Quays, along with advice about where to go and what to see. The house was perfectly located, right next to the Quays and a supermarket, as well as a scenic walkway that leads directly into town. It took about 20 minutes to get into town via the walkway, and maybe 15 by the road, which was fantastic. The house is lovely, very clean and wonderfully decorated, with lots of flowers from Ruth's garden. Ruth also left out baskets of fresh vegetables from her garden for us to eat! The tomatoes were the best tomatoes I've ever tasted. Ruth had a wide selection of food left out for breakfast, including eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, bread for toast, and cereal. She was always very helpful and conversational, and just really friendly. On the day we checked out, we weren't going home until 7pm, but Ruth let us leave our bags at her house until we were going and even let us come back and use the bathroom and have a cup of tea. We were only there for three days and two nights, but as you can see, Ruth and her house really made an impression on us! Thanks for a great stay, Ruth!

I highly recommend staying with Ruth. The house is cosy, clean and very centrally located to Westport. It also includes a lovely breakfast :). We were hoping to stay with Ruth an extra night but as she was booked out she went to great lengths to secure alternative accommodation for us while we were on the greenway cycle. Thank you so much! We had a wonderful time in Westport.

Ruth was a fantastic host and made us feel welcome right from the start. We had a lovely stay in her double bedroom which had a very comfy bed. In the mornings she had a nice breakfast left out which filled us up for the day. Her house is a nice 10min stroll into the main town. It's also very close to the Quays area and Westport house so everything was within easy reach. There was bikes available and walking sticks for Croagh Patrick which were great for the big hike up. Overall we loved our stay and would highly recommend Ruths place.
