House layout inside and out.
Amour is decorated in warm and bright tones with original and tasteful artwork. As you drive to the end of our street, you'll pull into our driveway, in front of our sunny front garden. Then open the gate to our enclosed French-feeling, shady courtyard with a wooden two-person swing. Go up two steps to the front porch and enter the house into the breakfast area and kitchen. Walk down the hall past the half bath to the split-level living room, or turn right to enter the master bedroom and master bath. Through the French doors at the end of the living room is a private, newly finished, and sunny back deck with dining table and views to the hills. Look down on our shady back yard with a swing hanging from a tree.

The warm, bright, fully equipped kitchen has custom-made cabinetry, a refurbished 1940's stove, and a built-in oak breakfast nook that looks out on the garden.

The split-level living room has hardwood floors. The upper level is a traditional family room/TV area. Step down a half step to the lower living room which has a standard/double bed (not a fold out couch) with a 3 panel wooden privacy screen, and a romantic wood-burning fireplace.

The master bedroom has a queen-size Select Comfort Airbed, plenty of drawer and closet space. Through the bedroom is the full bathroom with tub/shower and custom made cabinetry.

The second bedroom is directly behind the inner courtyard, with a 3 foot corridor between it and the house, We call it the Casita since it is almost like a separate cottage with a queen-size bed and a sweet roll-top oak desk.

The utility room under the house has a washer and dryer. In addition, we supply plush towels and robes, Egyptian high count cotton sheets, pillows and blankets, cookware, and dinnerware.

Go do it all or kick back and do nothing!
Amour Getaway, in the heart of Sonoma Valley is within minutes of wineries, fine food, art, music, theater, spas, shops, state parks, Jack London’s home, Infineon (Sears Point) Raceway, golf courses, horseback riding, balloon flights, biking and hiking, yet guests always comment that the Amour Getaway is so incredibly quiet and relaxing. Amour is located only 45 miles north of San Francisco, 45 minutes to the beach or the redwoods.

The quaint, rustic neighborhood of Boyes Hot Springs is perfect for a five-minute stroll down to the Barking Dog Café at the end of Vallejo Street. Check out the elegant Fairmont Hotel and Spa just across from the cafe. If you favor a longer walk to the historic town square of Sonoma, use the walking/biking trail that starts on Hwy 12 across from the Breakaway Cafe. Sonoma, only five minutes by car, boasts fabulous and varied restaurants, a wonderful old movie theater, sidewalk cafes on the square, cheese makers, and interesting unique stores. There is always something interesting going on in town, such as art fairs, live bands, fiestas, film and music festivals, and outdoor theater. • Some family members stayed in this house and had a great time. The furniture is lovely as is the landscaped yard. Great place to stay for a retreat in Sonoma.

  • This house is in a quiet neighborhood. It's a very private lot at the end of a culdesac. There is a separate bedroom (not in the main house) and a large master bedroom in the house. The third bed is behind the living room but not in a private room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Overall, we really enjoyed the deck, the nook area in the kitchen and the convenience of the location. Another good thing about this house is that the hot water doesn't run out. We had six people showering back to back and there was still hot water left. Thank you Judy for letting us stay at your house!

  • Great place to stay if you enjoy wine tasting. Quaint, quite and perfectly located. We could not have chosen a better one

  • My friends and I had an amazing Sonoma getaway at Amour! It was a perfect amount of space for the 4 of us and the home had everything on our wish list: close to wineries, in a cute neighborhood yet private feel, cozy environment, great patio and outdoor space, and wonderful kitchen. We had a fairly rainy weekend, but the fireplace made for a warm cozy environment. It was a pleasure working with Judy and Nora, they were very accommodating. I would definitely look to stay at Amour for future sonoma visits. Thank you!

  • Very nice cottage and a pleasant week had by my family. Very convenient to all areas of wine country. Third bedroom totally separate from the main house, master bedroom nice but other bed in area of living room which isn't the most practical. Nice deck to watch the sunsets and other sitting area nice when cooking on grill. I would recommend this cottage.

  • My stay was fantastic. The house was very clean and a great space. The beds were very comfortable and we rented bikes and were able to bike to the Sonoma square/plaza. There is a busy road you have to bike on but only for a short while since you can cut through on less busy streets, be sure to bring bike lights in case you go at night.

  • Our experience at Amour Getaway was great. The house is sited very nicely up on a hill which creates great outdoor spaces to enjoy in the spring and summer. If we would have stayed longer, I'm sure we would have made better use of the outdoor space. The house was equipped with all the things we needed to have a comfortable stay. The decor made the place feel very welcoming and like a home away from home. The house is within minutes from Sonoma Village, great restaurants and some of the best wineries in California.

Hi, My husband, a research scientist and I, a teacher and curriculum director, have been going up to Sonoma for almost 40 years. It is the sweetest town and 10 years ago we finally bought our dream house where we hope to retire. Until then we love to go up there and go hiking biking and to the old movie theater and just hang out at this wonderful little house!
