Where you’ll be

Seattle, Washington, United States

We have a great community of mostly small business owners and the parks and walks are amazing in this area, including a small piece of beach at Alki. We face West towards Puget Sound, with sunsets, mountains, cold salt water, good for a fun ferry boat ride to Vashon Island. We have a free shuttle in West Seattle to the Water Taxi that goes to downtown as well. www.kingcounty.gov/watertaxi An easy bus ride on the "C" line will get you to many, many more of the sites in the city such as the Space Needle or Pike Place Market! A car means you have to pay to park downtown so unless you are going on a road trip to the Mountains or the ocean, or you need a car for an elder etc., you are probably best to stick with the Metro Bus system in Seattle or use Uber or Lyft type services. You can also rent a bicycle very easily, or a bicycle cab at any major sports event, or a canoe at Univ. of Washington, or take an Argosy boat cruise for an adventurous look at Seattle from the water. Drunk driving laws are super tough so if you plan to party and drive, plan a budget of appx. $10,000 if you get caught. ;-(

I am a blues broadcaster and publisher, and do some work as a concert promoter, marketing to blues fans for events and other concert promoters as well. I sing and play piano, all three chords so not really very good at all, just so I can sing a little and usually the blues. I also host a TV show and podcast about blues music and gather footage in clubs around Seattle and other places in the area. I grew up in Seattle so I can fill you in on quite a bit. I watch TV on the internet and just stick with PBS and Comedy Channel for the most part. I love to cook at home but also love to go out too. I rent this house and so I rent rooms and have had three or four renters upstairs for over five years now and have paid the rent and all utilities without any problems. I have a great relationship with the landlord who takes care of anything that goes wrong right away as he is a contractor himself.

During your stay

If you need a specific tip about what to do, just ask. I specialize in live music, however, we have many other indoor and lots of outdoor options. We have many brochures and fliers and there are many local and regional publications as well that we have on hand. Some guests are musical and share that with Marlee, who can sing and play all three chords on the piano. Please translate rules for all guests who do not speak English. Knowing how to recycle and compost is essential when staying in Seattle.
