About this listing
I bought this condo last year and it had just been restored. It has nice hardwood floors throughout, two full bathrooms (master was just redone), and a gorgeous kitchen. There are three furnished bedrooms (two queens and a full sized bed), a couch that doubles as a single bed, and a twin air mattress. Let me address some other questions you might have:
Parking- I can provide you with a visitor pass that will let you park anywhere in my parking zone without having to worry about a ticket. This, of course, includes right in front of my house on the street (assuming spots are available, and they usually are somewhere on my block). We can also negotiate a price for garage parking behind the house.
Transportation- In my opinion, the best way to get around DC is to ditch the car and use DC's public transportation (the bus and light rail). In 1 block you can walk to bus stops that take you to Eastern Market or through the U St Corridor and into the heart of Adams Morgan. In 2 blocks walk you can catch a bus that takes you to Georgetown. You can access the light rail (Metro) within .5 miles walk and have your option of the red, green, or yellow trains. Also, as my house is centrally located, you can take a cab almost anywhere in the city for no more than about $15 one way.
Local stores- The bus that takes you to Georgetown also rolls by a Giant grocery store in about 3 blocks following getting on. If you stay on it until 15th St, you can go to a Whole Foods. When you walk .5 miles to the NY Ave Metro (the Red line), there's a brand new Harris Teeter. These stores also have parking.
Please see the Guidebook on the left for helpful hints and a nice map, and check out scoutmob.com to find some great food deals at local restaurants.
If I host you, the only thing I ask is that you treat the place responsibly, leave it relatively clean, and enjoy yourself in my home and in DC.
Please do not put any wooden handled knives in the dishwasher. They need to be washed and dried by hand.
Please do not use the cast iron cookware unless you know how to properly clean it. If you think proper cleaning of cast iron uses dish soap, you're not allowed to use them.
Please be thoughtful and do not open any food items that have not been opened. Feel free to grab spices if you need them, but if you use a significant amount, please replenish it.
I can work with check-in and check-out times, but I do ask you give me estimates so I can plan around your visit. Finally, my house has some nice things (like kitchen equipment and knifes). Please feel free to use everything, but be careful, follow directions for the item, and enjoy your stay.
About the Host, David
Hi. I'm a mid-30s guy who lives and works in DC. I've been here about 7 years and really love this city. I play a lot of sports. Tennis is my favorite. I have been hosting couchsurfers for a while. I like meeting new people while traveling and I really like staying in cool places that don't cost as much as a crappy hotel room so I still have some food and drink money in my pocket at the end of the day.
