Stay Play Getaway...
OceanView Vista overlooks the beautiful Bridgetown Port where all cruise liners dock. Lounge on our veranda to take in this sight. It is most spectacular at night. Enjoy a 20 minute walk to Brandon's or Brighton beach. Meet locals on your way there. Swim, snorkel, scuba dive, sight see, hike - you name it, Barbados has it. There are myriad coral reefs to explore, sunken shipwrecks to view. Bridgetown is a 10 minute bus ride. You can travel anywhere on the island by public transport for merely $2.00 per trip. What a sweet deal! Rent a car if your time is limited, you'll see a lot more.
Our friendly property manager will greet you on arrival and leave you a refreshment pack to tide you over until you get to the supermarket. He will be available by phone if you need any help.
Guests have the run of the house! The property managers will help by taking you to supermarket and 'Q in the Community'; a local hangout for locals and tourists.
Interaction with Guests
I not usually at home when guests are there, but the property managers, Joan or Leslie keep in close contact with guests.
The neighborhood is easily accessible. Service by ZR vans and a government-run bus which goes to Cave Hill, near to the university campus. The beach is about 20 minutes away. There is Chanel and Carlton supermarkets close by and S J Health & Bakery Ltd even closer.
Easy as pie! ZR vans are privately owned and run frequently. Although somewhat noisy, passengers are friendly and greet people already there with 'Good Morning/ Afternoon. The fare is $2 regardless of the distance. The government run blue buses are not as frequent as the ZR vans, but the fare is the same. You'll need the exact fare for this bus service.
Other Things to Note
There is a scenic ride on Sundays leaving Independence Square at 2 PM. The tour takes you to various venues around the island. You can take a picnic lunch with you.
Then there is the Mount Gay Visitor's Center on Spring Garden Highway. You'll get to sample Bajan rum. It is close to Brandon's Beach.
No Smoking Please.
I choose this property due to the high number of positive reviews, and I have to say I was not wrong in choosing it! The house lived up to all its expectations, but what I have to say is that the host really puts the icing on the cake. Patsy is not only a host, but also a tour guide and and friend while you are staying at the house. She made this trip unforgetable. I highly recomend this house if you are looking to ' live ' the culture.
We visited Barbados with our 2 young children. Patsy' house was really nice and welcoming. Leslie was also very helpful and bought us a few breakfast things to start us up before we explored our surrounding. Leslie and his niece, June also took time out of their schedule to take us around. We really appreciated the hospitality and kindness. Thanks again Patsy and Leslie for providing a cot bed for our 6 months old baby at short notice. We loved the beach (please note walk to the beach took us about 30mins) and it is worth the long walk. My son feel in love with the beach.
I would definitely recommend Patsy' home. It is modern, clean and very cosy. We were also able to do laundry as we'd been island hoping for a few days. Taking the bus to Bridgetown and hole town was easy and an adventure. Also, a big thank you to Jerry for taking us to the airport and for arriving on time.
Even though we weren't able to meet Patsy in person, our stay was perfectly organized!
Patsy had arranged us a taxi from the airport and at the place the property manager, Leslie, was waiting for us with the keys and some clues where to go and what to do in Barbados :)
The house is quite big, in a nice neighbourhood, a walking distance to nice beaches, although a car rental or bus trips to other beaches are highly reccomended, as there are wonderful beaches all over Barbados :)
We spent mostly a week in the house, it is exactly as described. Plenty of space with a view on the ocean (which is not so close). We really enjoyed our stay at Patsy's. Leslie who received us, has even brought us to the airport for a reasonable fee. Thank you :)
We stayed in Patsy's property for the New Year. We arrived on Dec 31st in the evening and Patsy arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport for $50BBD. Leslie, the property manager, was there to greet us upon arrival. He was kind enough to have a little care package of food to hold us off for the first night (bread, papaya, coffee, milk, juice, and wine!). The property was very nice and clean, and had all the amenities needed. Although we had a small hiccup during our first night, Leslie and his niece, June, managed to make sure the rest of our stay was most comfortable. Patsy was also quick to reach out to offer a solution. However, please remember that you are not in a tourist-centric neighborhood. Therefore, we recommend being vigilant as you would be at home.
The reviews said the beach was a 10-minute walk, but we thought it was further away (more than 20 minutes). It's easier to hop on a ZR van or a city bus for $2BBD to reach the beach or the supermarket. However, when looking for the beach by foot, we got a chance to explore the neighborhood. We actually found a secluded part of Brighton Beach by mistake and it was out own spot of paradise (when arriving near the refineries, turn right and walk past the fishing boats).
My friends and I would recommend Patsy's property if you are visiting the parish of St-Michael.
Mycket bra boende.
I've had the pleasure of renting Miss Patsy's home for a week, and the experience was nothing short of a great one. Patsy was very prompt with her email responses and immediately I felt a warm vibe towards her. Her property manager was also a very good man to deal with. Our flight in to Barbados arrived at 3:40 am and Leslie was available to let us in without a problem.. I would definitely recommend Patsy's home to friends or family. We felt right at home in her home...Thanks Patsy!!
About the Host, Patsy
I'm a Bajan with English and Canadian connections, having lived approximately two decades in each place. I love travelling and escapades - sand dune bashing in Qatar, hiking in South Korea and Bali, scuba diving in Hawaii and snorkeling in Barbados, and willing to try new activities. I am energetic and sociable. I enjoy outdoor activities and usually hike and exploring the neighborhoods I visit. When I travel I get around the city on foot and use local
transport. I love cooking and am quite adept at conjuring up a variety of creative plant-based recipes using local fruits and veggies.
Oh, and one more hobby. Sewing! I buy fabric as souvenirs and make my own clothes.
My home is welcoming and cozy. I'm a friendly host and will do my best to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one.
My life motto? "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
