A Little About Barbados...

Barbados is a colorful island retreat. Simply perfect for a getaway. A comfortable temperature, breezy, beautiful flowers, miles and miles of white sandy beaches - and of course, friendly Bajans. Come stay, get away.

OceanView Living...

Whether you spend 2 nights, a week or a month here at OceanView Vista you'd be loathe to leave. You'll find elegant fixtures, a fresh and new interior design inspired by classic settings, professionally designed by a Bajan architect and a Canadian interior designer.
We offer: Wireless Internet, Unlimited Local Phone Service, 40 " LCD TV, Cable, DVD Player, bathroom with hot water, washing machine, a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, stove, coffee percolator and a six-place dinner service, in effect, a home away from home.

Hop on a 'ZR' van, two minutes away from the house. Shuttle airport pick up/drop off is extra. Cost $50 BDS

Stay Play Getaway...

OceanView Vista overlooks the beautiful Bridgetown Port where all cruise liners dock. Lounge on our veranda to take in this sight. It is most spectacular at night. Enjoy a 20 minute walk to Brandon's or Brighton beach. Meet locals on your way there. Swim, snorkel, scuba dive, sight see, hike - you name it, Barbados has it. There are myriad coral reefs to explore, sunken shipwrecks to view. Bridgetown is a 10 minute bus ride. You can travel anywhere on the island by public transport for merely $2.00 per trip. What a sweet deal! Rent a car if your time is limited, you'll see a lot more.

Our friendly property manager will greet you on arrival and leave you a refreshment pack to tide you over until you get to the supermarket. He will be available by phone if you need any help.

Guest access

Guests have the run of the house! The property managers will help by taking you to supermarket and 'Q in the Community'; a local hangout for locals and tourists.

Interaction with guests

I not usually at home when guests are there, but the property managers, Joan or Leslie keep in close contact with guests.

The neighborhood

The neighborhood is easily accessible. Service by ZR vans and a government-run bus which goes to Cave Hill, near to the university campus. The beach is about 20 minutes away. There is Chanel and Carlton supermarkets close by and S J Health & Bakery Ltd even closer.

Getting around

Easy as pie! ZR vans are privately owned and run frequently. Although somewhat noisy, passengers are friendly and greet people already there with 'Good Morning/ Afternoon. The fare is $2 regardless of the distance. The government run blue buses are not as frequent as the ZR vans, but the fare is the same. You'll need the exact fare for this bus service.

Other things to note

There is a scenic ride on Sundays leaving Independence Square at 2 PM. The tour takes you to various venues around the island. You can take a picnic lunch with you.
Then there is the Mount Gay Visitor's Center on Spring Garden Highway. You'll get to sample Bajan rum. It is close to Brandon's Beach.

Patsy's home is exactly as it is in the pictures although the house feels a lot more spacious. I travelled with my wife and two children and there was more than enough room with having separate living and dining area plus double bedrooms and nice size bathroom. We used the local buses & the ZR minivans which are more regular into Bridgetown number 4 (ZR) but later opted for a hire car to get to the far reaching parts of the island. I had initially worried about no air conditioning when booking and I’m glad I just went with it as this wasn’t missed with the two fans which we moved around between front room and bedroom. I did myself an injury whilst on my holiday (nothing to do with Patsy’s Home) and thankfully Patsy was on hand to assist me in liaising with the authorities and recommending the best course of treatment. Barbados is a beautiful place and so is Patsy’s home it was clean and well stocked with beach towels/sheets washing powders and detergents as well as the basics like toilet rolls etc. We went home with a small amount of dirty clothes as they wash and dry so quickly. Patsy was very clear in telling us how her home works from the beginning and told us local info like where the local shop and supermarkets are as well as travel routes to tourist attractions etc. I would recommend going to cheapside market in Bridgetown for your weekly shopping which is two minutes from where you can catch the number 4 ZR minibus which will take you within a stone’s throw away from Patsy’s home. This is a residential area with local noise like the little puppy dog next door and chickens in the morning but I felt this ads to the experience of living like a bajan. I’m sure I’ve missed something else out but on a whole this has been an excellent experience and thank you for everything.

This is an amazing place to stay if you are visiting Barbados. Patsy is a superb host and she was very resourceful for our first international trip. This is one of the better stays on the island as it offers anything you'll need on your stay! She also has a good relationship with a cabbie, Jerry, who was very helpful getting us around the island for a very reasonable fare. I'd recommend this to anyone and personally am looking forward to future trips to this country for the sole fact of Patsy and her amazing property.

Home is better than shown in pictures. Everything you need for your stay is well supplied. Bus service (Van) is very regular and you can get anywhere. Patsy and Joan are excellent hosts. You are in a residential area which is a great way to see the real Bajan life. The walk to the grocery store is about 10 minutes and the beach about 15. Not many restaurants near by but the Vans run constantly, just wave and they will stop anywhere.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Patsy's place in Barbados. The home is exactly as pictured, is clean, spacious, and secure. We enjoyed our morning and evening meals at the home using Patsy's well equipped kitchen and kitchen utensils, etc. There were ample fans throughout the home to move the air around. We kept windows open as well which helped circulate air. We never felt the need for air conditioning. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a stop just down the street for the local "ZR Van". We used this just once in our week long stay. We also walked to the beach and local "fast food" joint (this was a bit of a walk but not unmanageable if you don't mind the walk). The walk to the beach took about 15-20 mins. We had a car reserved for the majority of our stay and, though walking some of the places or using public transit was a viable option, we preferred using the rental car so we could see the country side and the city as well. There is a gate at the end of the driveway on the property. We were able to park the rental car in the driveway and close the gate at the end of each day. We enjoyed sitting outside on the front porch and relaxing on occasion. Please note: though the home is not really located inside the city (of Bridgetown), the view is a town view with ocean in the distance (as well as, far off, you can see the cruise ships). We traveled as 2 adults with 2 teen/tween children and would absolutely recommend staying here!!!

Very good value for the money. Hotels in Barbados are very expensive and this home is a great option if you want to visit Barbados on a budget. The hosts (Patsy and Joan) are very nice and always willing to help out should you need information or ideas on what to do while here. The house is located in a fairly densely populated area and consequently there is traffic noise. Many people in the area own dogs that are kept outside at night and they will bark at all hours. It is a long walk to the beach, at least 20 minutes, but once there it is immaculate and not crowded at all. There is a bus stop 50 yards from the doorstep and you can pretty well go anywhere on the island for two bajan dollars per trip. Cable tv, internet and telecommunications all work very well.

Patsy may just be the perfect host and her house the perfect home away from home. The house is very well equipped, clean and very well located to reach the city centre and the nearby beaches. Very relaxing and generally great stay! Patsy is very accommodating and kind and she'll really make you feel like home.

Patsy's place suited us almost completely. It was well equipped, comfortable, and the information that she and Joan provided was exactlly what we needed. Public transit was an unexpected delight: the little mini vans just 4 houses down was a real treat and all the people who we met on our way to the beach could not have been more congenial. Our supermarket was as good as it gets, equivalent to anything we experienced in Arizona, and "our" beach (Brandon and Brighton) was as good as any on the island, without the crowds that the others have. We would only have liked the house to be a bit closer to that beach on the one hand, but on the other hand, we got our daily excercise just getting to it. It was a wonderful month that we spent in Patsy's house and it has left us with a very positive view of Barbados. Thank you, Patsy, Joan, and Jerry the taxi driver who introduced us to views of the island, dounks, and rock cakes.

I'm a Bajan with English and Canadian connections, having lived approximately two decades in each place. I love travelling and escapades - sand dune bashing in Qatar, hiking in South Korea and Bali, scuba diving in Hawaii and snorkeling in Barbados, and willing to try new activities. I am energetic and sociable. I enjoy outdoor activities and usually hike and exploring the neighborhoods I visit. When I travel I get around the city on foot and use local
transport. I love cooking and am quite adept at conjuring up a variety of creative plant-based recipes using local fruits and veggies.
Oh, and one more hobby. Sewing! I buy fabric as souvenirs and make my own clothes.
My home is welcoming and cozy. I'm a friendly host and will do my best to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one.
My life motto? "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
