The space

This cabin is nestled at the end of Vicksville Lane in full view of the Buckeye Loop Trail. Easy Hike to Dock 3. Please be aware this is a step above camping, but still roughing it. An inexpensive way to enjoy running water (in spring, summer, fall) and electricity, but there is no phone or Internet on site. There is however a radio and record player. Full size fridge and stove. Large toaster oven, and drip coffee maker (cone filter).

You will see giant birds, hop on Ohio's finest lake loop trail, and float in the middle of Ohio's hidden gem in the middle of Wayne National Forest.

There is a Kroger grocery store in nearby Trimble, which is an easy 20 minute drive from the Cabin. There is also a Walmart in nearby Athens (home of Ohio University) which is about 40 mins drive. There is also a hardware store in Glouster, Ohio called Darbeyland.

There are pots and pans, plates, mugs, utensils. There are no condiments, oil, etc, please be sure to bring whatever you need to cook.

The closest restaurant is at the Burr Oak Lodge (~10 minute drive). I often have lunch there and it is delicious. There are a couple restaurants in nearby Glouster, Trimble, and Mcconnelsville. To be honest I've only eaten at the Burr Oak Lodge while I'm down there.

I have also stopped for dinner about 45 minutes away in Nelsonville as it is on my way home to Columbus, Ohio. Rocky Boots has an outlet store in Nelsonville with a lot of discounted outdoor/hunting gear, as well as a couple restaurants, historic train rides, arts, etc.

Also, if you find the place truly lacking something I'm about 1.5 hours away and will do my best to bring it out to you in a timely manner. The neighbor has also kindly left her address and telephone number in the event of emergency.

Guest access

You will have access to the entire house.

Interaction with guests

I am available via cellphone, there is also a very helpful neighbor Beverly. Feel free to to knock on their door if you need anything.

The neighborhood

Located in southeast Ohio, quiet and remote Burr Oak State Park has a rustic country charm in its 2,593-acre scenery of wooded hills and valley farms. As one of Ohio's resort parks, Burr Oak offers a wide array of hiking, boating, fishing, and outdoor all-around good times. Burr Oak blends modern conveniences with the wilderness spirit of Ohio.

Getting around

There is enough room for 4 cars.

Other things to note

I do have two bb buns at the cabin. If this presents a problem for your or the little ones, let me know and I'll store them away during your stay.

House Rules

You are kindly asked to leave the place as you found it. That means taking any trash with you for disposal. Also, please unplug the fridge and leave the fridge door open. Do not leave any food. There is a lock box installed at the property with a code to access the keys inside. Prior to your visit I will send the code number to you.

Please also be aware that there are two large locking sliding glass doors that open to a large deck.

It's as he states: a step up from camping. Very secluded and has running water. But it is cozy.

The Burr Oak Cabin was a perfect, central location for my family to meet up from MI, NJ and SC for Thanksgiving weekend. The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped to prepare our feast. It was private, somewhat "off the grid" with easy access to state park hiking. There was a minor problem when checking in but neighbor, Beverly was immediately on task and Rob was very considerate of the inconvenience. Great time. Thanks, Rob!

My mother and I had went down to see 4 great granddaughters which neither of us had seen having a cabin made the trip a lot easier. When we got to the cabin it was so quiet and peaceful we felt at home the cabin was spacious and very well decorated we felt right at home. My mother left an item that she needed we didn't realize it and Rob called to let us know and I had went and got it the next day before going home. Perfect place to get away from it all. Thank you Rob you made an 80 year old woman so happy!!!!

We stayed during Parent's Weekend at OU, and found the cottage to be very charming and nestled in a lovely area. As others have mentioned, the extensive record and DVD collection was quite a treat. The furnishings are quaint and cozy, with rockers, throw rugs, and quilts, along with a very nice sectional couch. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook a few simple meals, and we loved waking up every morning to the beautiful view of the trees and the sounds of nature. We would definitely stay again.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Burr Oak Cabin. Though we only stayed one night we still took advantage of visiting the park nearby, which was very lovely. The cabin itself is accurately described in the listing; very clean and comfortable. Rob made check in and check out a breeze and responded quickly to any questions I had. I would definitely recommend this listing to other Airbnb users! The location is great if you are looking for a quiet place to relax.

I'm a computer programmer living in Columbus, Ohio. I own a cabin about 1.5 hours from Columbus at Burr Oak State Park. I enjoy heading out of town on the weekends to hike around with our dog Ollie.

Recently married to a lovely woman. When we travel we rent homes much like the one I have listed. We have had the fortune of renting vacation homes in Paris, Iceland, and the US Virgin Islands.

I try hard to do more and talk less. The most important part of any journey is the courage to start it.
