  • It was a pleasure to stay in the pleasant and well furnished house of Paul & Karin, located about one hour from Dublin in a remote but pleasant place. We met them at our arrival and they provided us with good beach visits. They were very friendly and helpful hosts. Too bad we could only stay one week !

  • I stayed at Pauls wonderful house with a friend to write on our PhDs. It was a perfect retreat, absolutely stunning and peaceful surroundings, wonderful beaches and a great and very cosy and spacious house. Paul is a wondeful host and was most welcoming and helpful. We would love to come back! Thanks very much, Paul!

  • I am tempted to keep this beautiful place a secret but in all honesty can't recommend it enough. A stunning property by the sea, perfect for long walks and exploring the coastline. We were there for new year with storms throughout the week which meant a few rainy afternoons reading by the wood burner and when the rain stopped taking a mug of coffee down to the beach- it's so close!

As well as being beautifully cut off there is also lots nearby if you drive- we took a day trip to Dublin and also made the most of the nearby award winning spa.
We managed to brave the Balleymoney New Year's Day swim in the sea which was 'refreshing' but its obvious how amazing this place would be in the summer ( sea kayaks lurking under the house!).

Perfect for groups of friends/ families and dogs- our collie had the week of her life!
Thank you Paul, we will be back!

    Response from Paul:

Alice, Thanks for your very kind review. Yes the kayaks are great fun. I am looking at some wet suits and also some special shoes for climbing rocks - of course the initial investment will be in size S and XL. We stayed in the house last night, Karin has a Spanish colleague over. Karin found it too hot!!!
The coastal erosion is quite dramatic, so much for coastal path/walks, at least most of our are natural and we just find a new route or do without until things settle down again. Look very much forward to your return visit. Regards, Paul

  • THis is a fantastic house, Warm, Cosy and is literally seconds from the beach.
Myself and 4 friends enjoyed a lovely few days in Ballymoney. Paul is an excellent host, having the stove blazing for when we arrived and plenty of logs to keep it going. The bags of cooking apples he left for us were a bonus. And they were well used when we got home, lots of apple pies been cooked :)
This is a great house to stay in either the winter or summer months.

  • For someone to stay anywhere other than Paul's home in Ballymoney would be a mistake. The pictures don't do this place justice. It's extremely spacious, very well equipped, and a stones throw from the beach! We could literally hear the waves crashing at night from our bed. We could also SEE the ocean from laying in bed!! It's a small country; just rent a car, drive to wherever you need to be, and lay your head in this house at night. You won't be disappointed!

  • The house is in a great location. It is as it says, 30m to the beach, and the beach is lovely. There are great walks to enjoy especially down to the shipwrecks. The house also had kayaks with lifejackets and bicycles which were there to use as we wished.

The house is very cosy. Rooms are bright and spacious. Beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are very clean. The stove downstairs is perfect for any cool evenings, and Paul leaves logs outside the door to be used as you wish.

Overall, this house is perfect for everything you would need for a self catering holiday.

Diarmuid, Thank you for your kind review. I was especially delighted you got to the wreck and rediscovered the beaches you had known in your youth. Looking forward to your next visit to Ballymoney - anytime of the year (the jotul stove is great when snow on the ground - every 20 years!). Best regards, Paul

  • We had the most wonderful week at Ballymoney courtesy of Paul and Karin (and Lilly!). They made us feel very welcome without ever being intrusive. The house is simply fantastic and the beach is a constant connection with nature. We were very lucky with the weather but even on a cold wet day the house would be a warm and cosy sanctuary. Hopefully we will return over the next few years. Paul and Karin - thank you so much!

Paul, we thank you so much, you have been a lovely family to have in Ballymoney and we are both delighted you all enjoyed it and hope you are 'hooked'.
    Best regards, Paul & Karin

  • The house is even better in real life than the website photo's. The views from the balcony are spectacular we got up one morning on Pauls advice to watch the sunrise and it was fantastic. The location is exactly as it says 30 meters from a lovely stretch of beach. Paul had and his wife Karin had the house set up perfect with all the amenities you would have at home. There is a lovely garden where our children could play and they looked forward to a daily visit from Lily the friendly dog who dropped by for a snack. Paul was very friendly and ensured us he was available if we were stuck for anything , he was very helpful with advising on places to visit and places to go for food. I would definitely recommend this house as a perfect place to spend time with the family and I will hopefully get a chance to visit again.

  • 30 Meters to the Beach exceeded our expectations. The house is beautiful as are the views from every window. What a treat to go to sleep looking out at the sea and sky and then to wake up to watch the sun rise over the Irish Sea. Paul and Karin were warm and exceptionally kind hosts. Lily, their dog, was there to greet us when we arrived home from a day of touring or hiking and when she smelled something appealing coming from our kitchen window. Christian loved feeding their chickens and gladly offered to do so at every opportunity and in return they offered us some of their fresh eggs. We were fortunate also to be given a tour of Ballymoney Beach and learn the history and geology of the area by Paul. We could go on...we would return in a heartbeat and recommend to all. Thank you Paul and Karin!

    Response from Paul:

Julie and Christian, thank you for your lovely review. It was great having you here and we'd be delighted when your heart beats (faster) and you feel the draw back to Ballymoney. Sadly fox dug his way in to remove Blitz and his women, so we're a bit short on eggs for the time being. Weather is dreamlike these days and I'll have to hook-up the pump to the stream to keep the colour in the garden prospering. Went in for an early swim yesterday morning, so I can conifrm we will have the water warmed up for your next visit. 'hope you are having a wonderful time in southern Europe, love and best wishes, Paul & Karin

  • We had a wonderful time staying at Paul's place in Ballymoney. The house is so bright and airy, and just feels so cosy and welcoming. The location just yards from the beach is stunning, too.

Paul was the perfect host, coming up with suggestions for places to visit, setting us up with some "starter grub", bringing us fresh eggs from his hens and firewood for the wood burning stove!

You will have a lovely time here.
