Great location

Tranquil room in Strawbale house located on the outskirts of picturesque Port Townsend approximately 30-40 minutes walk from historic downtown. We live on 3/4 acre with views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainer (on a clear day) and Port Townsend Bay. Although we are in the city limits, we feel as though we are out in the country! We are still a work in progress, so you may see some of our unfinished projects.

IF THIS LISTING IS BOOKED WE HAVE ANOTHER LISTING: SUMPTUOUS ROOM IN STRAWBALE HOUSE.

The space
Our hand-built strawbale house is located in lovely Port Townsend and is a 5 minute drive or 30-40 minute walk to downtown. Our little corner room is filled with light and views of Mt. Baker and Port Townsend bay as well as the green field below the house. The two-foot thick walls are hand plastered, lending an organic feel to the room as well as creating a warm and quiet space. Enjoy the 100% wool carpet, cotton sheets and natural linen duvet. In order to create a space where you can get away from the trappings of modern life, there is no TV in the room, but feel free to access our wi-fi to watch movies on your laptop using headphones. Our sweet kitty Tibby will most likely come and visit you as well! We are very social people and love to get to know our guests so please feel welcome to enjoy the rest of the house!

The bathroom is just a few steps away across the hall from your room and has a separate shared toilet space.

As you will see, our house and property is still a work in progress! There are still unfinished aspects to the house and we have yet to accomplish much outside landscaping due, in part, to a lack of deer fencing. Therefore, anything we plant will get eaten at this point! With this being said, our home is very comfortable and functional and we think you will love being here.

Guest access
When you arrive, come through the gate and proceed to the large gold house with the buttresses.

Feel free to enjoy the house and garden with us.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ROOM IS ON THE 2ND FLOOR SO YOU WILL NEED TO BE COMFORTABLE CLIMBING STAIRS.

Other things to note
We ask that you refrain from taking food and drink (other than water) up to our guest rooms. We chose to lay down a non-toxic wool carpet but it is prone to staining.

Please use the vent fans when showering and leave it running for several minutes afterwards to ensure that we don't encourage mold.

We have a cat that has free access to most of the house and can come and go through her cat door. You can always shut your door if you don't want her to enter your room.

This means that if you are allergic to cats you may want to book elsewhere.

Port Townsend, Washington, United States

Although we are within the city limits, you will feel as if you are out in the country. Our little lane will take you past a charming neighborhood of houses but our 3/4 acre feels private and serene.

My husband Tim and I love creating beautiful spaces and nurturing people! I recently turned 50 at about the same time that our daughter graduated from college and our 19 year old son flew off to start a new life in the UK. So now we have two empty rooms in a big house where we can host visitors. We are so looking forward to having you stay with us! We love our little town with its cute restaurants and the coolest movie theatre in the world! We love good food, our kitty, traveling to out of the way places and connecting with people in their communities. I'm a fan of musicals, Billie Holiday and power walks in the woods. We are both self-employed: We produce Daddy's Muesli, a delicious organic muesli, right here on our property in a certified commercial kitchen. We invite you to have some for breakfast! Tim is a fine artist and we have a little workshop and gallery downtown on the same floor as Sirens Pub. He muses that he spends his days making 'love glue'.

During your stay
We may have both of our Airbnb rooms rented at the same time so you may have a chance to meet other travelers.

We are a social house and tend to have good friends come and go frequently, so there are times when the house is not quiet. We always enjoy getting to know our guests so please join us for a cup of tea or glass of wine. That being said, please feel free to spend your time in your room without any pressure to engage with us. We are very easy going people and go with whatever flow is happening.

The room is very quiet with the door closed, but if you desire an extremely quiet environment, you may want to stay elsewhere.

We will endeavor to create a quiet home for you after 10pm and we ask that, if you come home after 10pm, you move about the house quietly out of respect for our other guests.
