WHERE WE ARE
Prati is in one of the districts ("Rioni") of Rome Historical Centre and incorporates the Vatican City. Its logo is the shape of Hadrian's Mausoleum (known today as St Angel Castle).
During Roman times the territory of present Prati district consisted of vineyards and reed beds, part of the property of Domitia, wife of Emperor Domitian, from which the area was named Horti Domitii ("Domitian's Gardens") and later Neronis Prata ("Nero's Meadows").
In the Middle Ages the area was called Prata Sancti Petri ("St.Peter's Meadows") due to the adjacent Basilica.
Until 1870, there stretched a vast expanse of natural meadows, fields and even swamps, dotted -especially in the area of the slopes of Monte Mario- of some farmhouse and the rest completely deserted; the area was known as Prati di Castello (referring to St.Angel Castle).
After 1870 (the year of the annexation of Rome to the newly born Kingdom of Italy) were the first interventions of housing and urbanization, completed in the first half of the twentieth century.
Prati district today is characterized by wide and regular streets, with elegant buildings in "Umbertino" style and villas in liberty style. You will find an excellent selection of restaurants, wine-bars, typical shops.

Thank you and have a nice stay
El departamento está muy bien equipado, cómodo, mucho mejor que un hotel. Nos encantó y sin dudarlo volveríamos. Ha nuestra mejor lugar! Gracias David
We found the apartment very cozy, functional, and well equipped. David's mother welcomed us in a friendly and informative way. The location is great for exploring the Vatican and the surrounding Prati area has excellent options for dining and shopping, also with the metro stop only about 100 meters away. In our case there wasn't any way for is to store our luggage in/near the apartment after we checked out but we were able to place them in the left luggage area at Termini on David's suggestion.
David's mother met us at the apartment, gave us the keys and showed us how things worked.
We loved our recent stay in Rome, and this apartment was perfect for our needs. It is only a short walk from the Ottaviano (San Pietro) Metro station, making it easy to travel (and carry/drag luggage!). We felt very safe staying here. David was really helpful – very quick in answering any questions that we had before and during our visit, and kindly allowed us to leave luggage safely beyond check-out time on our final day in Rome. We definitely benefitted from having access to Wi-Fi and having air conditioning in the apartment, as well as maps and information about local shops, etc. On the whole the apartment was very clean and well equipped. It was fantastic to have a cleaner to come in each day and provide a supply of fresh towels. We slept very well during our visit, the bed was extremely comfortable and also benefited from a choice of pillows to suit varying tastes. We would definitely recommend others stay at this apartment – thank you for helping to make our visit so enjoyable!
David's place is very nice. It's clean and modern and located only a few minutes walking from the Vatican. There are many nice restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this place to anyone going to Roma.
My husband and I recently stayed at David's Cozy Gem in Rome. The location was fantastic! Less than a 10 minute walk to the metro and the Vatican. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. And the bed was extremely comfortable!
David and his mother were very friendly and incredibly easy to get a hold of.
I would highly recommend this apartment to any couple who is planning to visit Rome.
Thank you David!
The flat is AMAZING and LUXURIOUS... It has the perfect location near Vaticano and subway.
David and his Mother are very special hosts.

About the Host, David
Hello, I am David I lived all my life in Rome and I do love my city. I like travelling, meeting people and good food. I am always available for my guests by phone or email 24/24 in case of need, questions and suggestions.
I do think your choice of visiting The Eternal City is the best you can do: Rome is not only a beautiful city, it is an experience…
... walking through the streets of history, where around every corner you come upon an architectural wonder... every time I enter Via della Conciliazione and all of a sudden I have Saint Peter's Dome in front of me I feel astonished;
...visiting museums plenty of works of art ... Canova sculptures in Galleria Borghese, The School of Athens in Raphael Rooms, the Ancient Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Etruscan masterpieces, not to mention Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and thousands of others ;
… discovering that, even during cold season, Rome is blessed by mild temperature and the sun is always brilliant....
… To have a break in the local shops or in a small typical trattoria for a dish of pasta ... while in Rome, do like the Romans do !
What I mean is Rome is the perfect place for a great artistic, cultural and culinary experience!
