Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
As one of our guests noted: “This home is named perfectly. It was a great escape." We invite you to stay in our small but cozy house in the very quiet "Pittsburgh Circle" area of town.

The property backs onto a greenbelt - down a sharp embankment you can see the Connoquenessing Creek - which you can enjoy from the covered patio or the breakfast table in front of the large window. We have seen deer, groundhogs, hawks, and even a bald eagle!

The space
Altogether, you will have about 1100 square feet at your disposal, plus a great patio!

You can relax in the "lodge," which features a living area and a breakfast area in front of a huge window that overlooks the greenbelt and creek. Or you can hang out in the living room. The bedroom features a king sized bed that some have rated the most comfortable AirBnB bed they have slept in. The primary living room has an IKEA sofa that flips into a full bed. (Not a pull-out couch. It is much more comfortable than that. Instructions and pictures in the House Manual.) The bathroom features a full bath/shower. The kitchen is small but well equipped.

Altogether, this gives one the feeling of being in a secluded cabin although the house is in the middle of a little town with neighbors on both sides.

Guest access
You have access to all living areas. No access to the garage, the basement, or laundry facilities, except by special arrangement.

Other things to note
We are very allergic to smoke, as are many other guests. Please don't smoke inside the house or on the property! (Our kids know that when we say "please" in this tone, it means DON'T DO IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!)

We do not allow guests use of the fireplaces at this time.

Sorry, we don't allow pets. (There are no barking dogs next door either!)

Please don't have parties! (We need to keep the neighbors happy so they don't complain.)

Sorry, no dishwasher. But there are a stove (gas), a microwave, and a refrigerator, all quite new.

We don't recommend this house for guests with young children. The primary reason is that there is a relatively sharp drop behind the patio that inquisitive children may want to explore and can then cause injury.

Neighborhood highlights

Pittsburgh Circle is an area of town that features many beautiful homes from a past era. (Our house is very humble by comparison.) The circle is literally a circular road with a one mile circumference. On one side is the original US Steel plant (no longer active). Many of the homes were built for the upper management of US Steel.
