Live like a local in Niagara Falls!
Full use of common areas, only a 20-minute walk to the Falls or a quick bike/car ride. Bikes available to lend. Make my home your home during your visit!

The Space

My house was built in the 1930s and retains much of its original character and charm. It is a simply, but lovingly, furnished home.

You will not find anything fancy, pressed linens or crystal glasses here. There is no maid or room-service to tend to you. What you will find is a comfortable space at a budget-friendly price to call home while you are in town.

Guest Access

Guests are welcome to use all of the common areas in the home which include the kitchen, living rooms, both bathrooms, and our great outdoor space. I only ask that everyone cleans up after him or herself.

I also have cable TV and high-speed WiFi that you will have access to.

There are two bathrooms, shared by everyone in the house. The downstairs bathroom has a hairdryer in it if you require one. I have toiletries that you are welcome to use during your stay. Towels and face cloths are provided.

Please leave your bedroom and the house in the condition that you found it in. If you make a mess or use the dishes, please clean up after yourself as if it were your home.

Interaction with Guests

This listing is for a Private Bedroom in a shared house so there will be other people around while you are here.

I really enjoy getting to know my guests. Unfortunately though, I am not on holiday and am usually busy with work. Please don't be offended if I'm not available to socialize with you. It isn't personal.

Offering rooms through AirBnB has been such a blessing in my life as it not only allows me to interact with great people from around the world while I'm not in a position to travel, but it affords me the opportunity to follow my dreams.

This is not a business for me so I'm not around the house much. I am nearly always available though via an AirBnB message or by phone.

It's important to me that you have a great experience so please do keep in touch if you have any questions or need anything.

The Neighborhood

My home is located close to The Falls themselves, parks, Little Italy, and numerous other cultural and historic treasures. It's also just a short drive or bus ride to the outlet mall if you wish to go shopping. Downtown Buffalo is about 30-minutes away by car and an hour by bus.

There are many restaurants and a couple of grocers within three blocks of the house. Please ask for directions.

My house is not at the water. I am situated in the city, 2.5 kms from the entrance to the state park (where the Falls are located) and slightly less to the Rainbow Bridge (where you can drive or walk across into Canada).

It takes me about 20-minutes to walk, 7-minutes to ride my bicycle, or 5-minutes to drive and park. A taxi costs about $5 from the casino (right in front of the park) to my house.

The neighborhood that I live in is fine as far as I'm concerned but it's not without challenges (as is the entire city). If you are not comfortable staying in an urban neighborhood you may want to look for other accommodations. But if you enjoy the character that goes along with city-living and want to experience Niagara Falls like a local, you've found the right place to stay! (Feel free to ask me about the neighborhood and any questions or assumption that you may have. I am very open and passionate about improving Niagara Falls USA.)

Getting around

If you drive there is plenty of free street parking available - just ask about which side of the street to park on. I also have private spaces in the back that you may use if preferred.

There is a bus system that serves the city of Niagara Falls and connects it with Buffalo. NFTA is the name of the transit company.

If you want to enjoy the Canadian side of The Falls while you are here, I'd suggest leaving your car (to avoid the parking fees there of $25+ as well as the long border waits) and walking across the Rainbow Bridge. Aside from the convenience you can enjoy breathtaking views and get a picture at the international boundary line located in the middle of the bridge!

Other Things to Note

Please keep in mind that this is not a Hotel or Hostel - nor is it a Bed & Breakfast. It's a room in a private residence. I respond to every inquiry I get as quickly as possible but at times am sleeping or working and am not accessible. Please consider this prior to booking and if you expect to need round-the-clock attention, please choose another accommodation.

Check in is after 3:00 pm (15:00). .

If you need to check in before 3:00 pm please ask if it's possible BEFORE booking your room. Likewise, check out is at 11:00 am and if you'd like to stay longer please ask if it's possible.

Due to many early/late check-in/out issues, I now ask for a $15 cash contribution for check outs after 11:00 am and check ins before 3:00 pm.

My house is located in Niagara Falls, NY which is in the USA - not in Canada.

If you are interested in staying at my place in Canada, please see my Crystal Beach listing which is a beautiful, peaceful retreat just 30-minutes away and it's an entire house - not just a private bedroom.

  • The blue room was clean, basic, with comfortable bed. It was unseasonably hot while we were there. The ceiling fan in the room helped a little to make it bearable for sleeping at night. Nicole kept the kitchen well stock with basic cooking essentials, fruits, milk & bread.
Nicole was very knowledgable about the area around Niagara Falls. She pointed us to free parking spots, and the wine route which we enjoyed.
Thanks Nicole for an enjoyable stay in Niagara Falls

  • It was great! Nice cozy room and the place was neat and clean.

Nicole was really nice and helpful when she dropped by the place at night!

Only thing was that its a 30 minute walk to the falls, which was slightly further than expected. But it was a good exercise anyway!

Sorry I was so busy when you were here but I'm glad that we were at least able to say "hi" in person. :) Thanks again for staying at my place while you were in town!

  • Nicole is a great host, this is one of my best stays with AirBnB yet.. She was very accommodating and very responsive. The place is clean, safe and very near to Niagra Falls.
We had an amazing time at her place and will come back the next time we visit Niagra falls.

Thanks so much for that lovely review! It was a pleasure to meet you gals. Too bad about the concert getting rained out. Next time you come to the area I do hope that you will make my place your place again!

  • Our stay at Nicole's was great, her place is a perfect location, close to the falls, but away from the tourist madness. Her recommendations of what to do and where to go were perfect, it helped us to get the most out of our limited time. We would stay there again!

  • The place is nice and cozy and a great value for money. Though I only had a quick overnight stay but I find the place near and clean as well as comfy. I would certainly recommend it.

Thank you for your review and helpful feedback. I'm glad we were able to host you! I have taken into account your feedback about breakfast - actually you aren't the only one that's mentioned it - and have decided to remove the breakfast as a part of the room rate. I would rather guests feel that they get more than they pay for rather than less. Which is actually how it used to be. Then I had guests recommending that I let people know I offer this. It's certainly hard to please everyone, I'm discovering. :) I hope that the rest of your journey went well and I'd be happy to welcome you back again in the future!

  • Good room not so close to Niagara Falls.

I'm glad that you were satisfied with the room, Sergey. As stated in my listing and on the map, I am located 2.5 KMs from the entrance to the State Park which takes most guests (and myself) 20-25 minutes to walk to and about 5-minutes to drive and park the car in the actual park.

  • It's a really nice experience. Although we just stayed for only one day, we are very satisfied with everything here. The room is so cozy and clean. Especially the bathroom, it is really well equipped.

  • Nicole was a nice host who greeted us at the front when we arrived. Although we came 15 minutes later than our expected arrival, she still waited for us to quickly give us our key and show us the house/our room before rushing off to her appointment. She also gave us some useful information about what was going on that day should we want to participate in local activities.

The listing was what we expected, the information provided and the photos of the place were accurate. The neighborhood was just as described. It was peaceful and quiet and we had no trouble at all with the neighborhood overall. The location of the place was convenient too, it took us about 25 minutes to get to the Rainbow Bridge.

Although we didn't see Nicole very much during our stay, she was very accomodating and helped make our visit to Niagara Falls enjoyable.

    Response from Nicole:

Thank you for your through review and feedback, Erika! I will see if I can change the wording on my listing to make it more clear about breakfast. At the nightly rate I charge, it's really more of a courtesy that I offer guests coffee/tea, fresh fruit, bread/jam, cereal/milk and juice. Sometimes there are additional items, like yogurt and waffles, depending on the day - but overall it's more of a help yourself - something to start your day. :) I apologize that your expectations weren't met in that regard and am glad that you otherwise enjoyed your stay.

  • Nicole's house is about 20 minutes walk to the Niagara falls or about 6 to 7 USD by a cab. The neighbourhood is safe and house is clean and well organised and maintained. Nicole arranged a barbeque for all residents for a v minimal cost and took us for a drive at night to watch niagara falls by night and fireworks. She gave us a lot of information about the place which was useful She is a very nice, straightforward and spirited girl and we would love to stay with her again when we visit Buffalo. She made our stay special in Buffalo :)

Thank you Pushpa! It was such a pleasure to host you and your daughter. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay. It was a lucky coincidence that you stayed the night I hosted a BBQ for my exchange change over and I'm glad that you were able to join us for it! You are certainly welcome in my home any time! I do hope we'll meet again. :)

About
I split my time between homes in Crystal Beach, Ontario and Niagara Falls, NY. I love spending time touring the local (Ontario) vineyards, wandering around the Niagara Falls (NY) State Park, and you can often find me out and about at a civic activity or local event. My passions at the moment are urban revitalization and rehabbing old stuff. I believe in living life on purpose and not settling for less than greatness! I suppose my motto would be to treat others with the respect that I expect.
