Notre hôte etait absente et était représentée par la femme de ménage ,cordiale ,mais qui ne parlait qu'espagnol .´Elle nous a laissé seulement un set de clé .
This condo is very well located: near the train and bus stations. It is a 5 min walk to the beach and restaurants and the famous Saint Miguel street. It is also near the markets.
Unfortunately our host was not present upon our arrival and the person she had delegated was gone to lunch. (we were a half hour late due to us missing the tirst train available from Malagus to Torremilinos) I did not have a European cell phone or internet connection upon arrival. Fortunately I obtained a phone at the hotel lobby accross the street but neither the host or her delegated person took our calls. We left messages. We were fortunate to obtain an internet connection at the hotel lobby by asking one on the client for the code. I left a message to our host.
The address given by our host was confusing: Calle Canoles 6 but a number 4 was at the right hand side of the entrance. We were not sure we had the right adress. Could not find a number 6. We asked people coming into the main entrance to number 4 if they knew our host or her delegated person. No one did until after an 1.5 hr after our arrival the delegated person identified himself after I called him. He was sitting inside the courtyard waiting for us. He explained later he had gone to lunch and had disconected his phone.
We were very lucky in meeting this person!!!. He turned out to be a very helpful person. We never met the host.
The appartment is smal and very dark after 5pm. There is only one lamp for the living room and kitchen table. Kitchen is small and would gain if it had a kettle, toaster etc. The beds were OK .
We never met Irene, we communicated by email and whatsapp.
Irene asked Ibrahim, the gardner/caretaker of the complex, to take care of us in case of questions of problems. This occurred frequently.
Ibrahim is a friendly, goodwilling man, who barely speaks and understands English.
The small little apartment has a lovely view and is well located near C/ St. Miguel. BUT : Everything in the appartment is old and needs renovation. The electric system is too poor to carry the heaters and other electric devices or lamps at the same time. For example: taking a shower = using the boiler. Doing this when the 2 heaters are on, together with two lamps, means that a powercut will follow within minutes.
Powercuts occurred on a daily base. The fuses of the mainboard in the basement broke down at least 5 x . This was fixed with the help of the neighbours or Ibrahim .
The system of the mainboard is >60 years old , obsolete, and needs a complete overhaul according to the neighbours.
We stayed 5 weeks in the apartment.. Much to our surprise there was only one incomplete set of bedsheets for 2 persons . Ibrahim did the best he could and delivered a 2nd set of bedsheets - unfortunately not the duvet cover we needed.
Drying the washed bedsheets was a nuisance because there barely is space to dry laundry, let alone a complete set of bedsheets.
A further unpleasant surprise was while sitting on the lala, waiting for the yaya , a cold shower came from the ceiling (through the lamp)',cause the neighbour upstairs spilled water in his bathroom.
Conclusion : This apartment is absolutely unsuitable for a long stay in winter. Perhaps in summer.
With a little help of the neighbours, the lovely restaurants and the surroundings, we were able to enjoy and survive our 5 weeks stay.
All the problems have been reported to the owner and to Ibrahim, the housekeeper.
The appartments were easy to find from the train station about 3 minutes walk away. Irene's housekeeper Ibrihim met us and showed us in all very straight forward. The appartment was clean and comfortable and had a lovely view, the wifi was also appreciaited. We were only staying a couple of days and this was a great place to stay very central and good value.
Everything was fine. Flat was clean and ready for us when we arrived. This is small, but comfortable apartment. There is no luxury, but you will find here many usufull things like: kitchen, wifi, tv and wash machine. Good price. Friendly & helpfull host. Good location - not far from the sea and close to supermarket. Good connection with Malaga (fast local train). If you have early morning flight Taxi to airport costs around 18 euro. I recommend.
