Ethel was very patient when we made an end run to see my future inlaws 3.5 hours away and did not check in till the next day, she stayed in touch. Her house was clean and inviting. The walk to the metro was about 3 good city blocks. We did that the first day then went with Uber the next day for the same price. We brought back food and drink to keep for breakfast. We did what we could to make things easier for Ethel, since she had had a hip replacement. We swapped stories, she gave us everything we asked for . She is very warming. The neighbor hood was very safe and clean. We had a better time with Ethel then looking at the I.R.S. Building!
I finally got, that I cant win them all.
I have noted in my listing that my guest must remove their shoes, most of them do and some don't even after I ask them.
I greet my guests with a smile and a warm welcome.
Your Son was very warm and receptive.
I was told when you both arrive that your son spoke English and you (the father spoke very little), so I communicated with your Son the duration of you stay.
But I read in your reviews the compliments given by your guests how well you spoke and wrote English. But you did not want to speak to me, so I accepted that.
I was not at home at night when you and your Son were here.
I apologize, but I really don't know what you were hearing after walking all day sightseeing.
Ethel was very friendly and helpfull. The room was nice and spacious for 2 people. The location is great to explore the city and it's easy to reach Ronald Regean Airport. Thanks Ethel!
Ethel was great! Very simple key handoff and a very nice home. The room was huge! Awesome area too--just rent a DC City Bikeshare bike and cruise around town.
High recommend staying with Ethel, if you get the chance!!
The neighborhood was quiet, suburban, and close to public transport. It took 10 to 20 minutes to get into downtown, depending on where I wanted to go. The place looks very similar to the pictures - extremely true to form. Ethel was a fantastic host. I met her neighbors, she was amenable to my needs, helped me in the rain, and I could not have been happier. It's like she molded to what was best for me.
The neighborhood is great. Close to the metro, Eastern market, and a charming pretzel bakery around the corner. Evelyn had a lot of rules: take your shoes off when you come in the house, no food in the bedroom, sign on the refrigerator telling us to wash our hands. Sharing the bathroom with her adult daughter was awkward. The bedroom where we slept was pleasant, and the bed was comfortable.
