Location

Blagdon, England, United Kingdom

The Byre is set in a beautiful small valley with cliffs, lawns and woodland.

The privacy, spa bathroom, candles, rustic setting and lakeside walk with the close proximity of excellent food at the Seymour Arms make us a popular choice for romantic celebrations, birthdays and anniversaries.

In the garden you may spot over 30 species of wild birds. You may also see deer, buzzards and at night badgers, hedgehogs foxes and owls are busy in the nearby woods.

One of the great advantages of staying at the Byre is the abundance of great walking and cycling in the area. Walkers can head up to the wild open space Blackdown, beside Blagdon Lake, into the forest at Stockton, the mellow woodlands tucked into the valleys at Velvet Bottom, or the huge hillfort at Dolbury Warren.

Mountain bikers can ride wide forestry tracks or hair-raising downhill single tracks in the woodland near Rowberrow or tourers can ride the car-free Strawberry Line from Yatton to Wells or the maze of lanes on the Somerset levels around Wedmore and Glastonbury.

By car the gorge and caves at Cheddar are only a few miles away. The beautiful medaeval cathedral city of Wells and the caves at Wookey Hole are 20 minutes.

At 30 minutes drive there is Bristol and the Roman and Georgian wonders of Bath.
