Description

The space

A bedroom with a double size bed in a shared traditional style Barbadian chattel house. Use of a shared bathroom with shower plus a second toilet. Many secluded areas where you can relax while being surrounded by original art. Books, DVDs and board games can be borrowed from the family's collection. The space cannot accommodate children.

Guest access

Complete kitchen set up for use by guests. With a wide range of restaurants nearby and accessible by bus, most guests opt to dine out. Internet access, laundry facilities and parking are also available.

Interaction with guests

The host and her husband are nearby in their separate upstairs apartment and can provide help when needed. They are well informed on the local scene and can make suggestions and provide event calenders for day or night activities.

The neighborhood

Workingclass Barbadian neighborhood with real community people that will give a sense of how life is on the island. Our street of Dunlow Lane is safe, the house is respected and its guests are appreciated by the local residents. As in all cities we, as hosts, will advise on how to get around and where to avoid to make your trip most pleasurable.

Getting around

We are 1 km from Bridgetown and the bus terminal . The number 11 bus down the lane will take you all along the south coast past Oistins. Buses cost $2.00 BBD ($1.00 USD).
Make reservations for cars as soon as you know your plans, especially in the high season as they may run out.

Other things to note

No guests under the age of 18 years old.
Light sleepers: Please note that the bargain priced Bedroom in Shared Barbadian Home is facing the street side of the house which also has the refrigeration unit and kitchen facilities. This room might not be a good choice for those people. We have 2 other rooms on the other, quieter side of the house. Click on my photo on the listing and go to my page to View All Listings at the same house.
Washing machine is operated by the host and a fee of $5.00 USD ($10.00 BBD) for washing and hanging to dry one load.
Our 2 friendly dogs live outside the house within our fence. If you are very uncomfortable with dogs then our place might not be for you.
