The space

Walls decorated with original photos of local sites. Distant views of Inca Ruins.

Use of bright and sunny Living room. Large bath room with hot shower and bath tub. Sunny kitchen with views. Laundry room. Free high speed internet WIFI. Guide and history books on Peru. Large collection of DVDs. All NFL games live.

Interaction with guests

I am retired so I am available to answer any questions you may have and am free to give you tours. Just pay the low cost taxi fares and buy me lunch and I will show you why I love this city so much.

The neighborhood

My neighborhood is the safest with 24/7 guards. It has the best restaurants at the lowest prices. It is full of parks with views of hills dotted with Inca Ruins. It is just off of Ave. de la Cultura that gives you quick access by bus or taxi to the Plaza de Armas. Note: The closer you are to the Plaza de Armas the more expensive EVERYTHING is. Also you are constantly being sold something. In my neighborhood you are left alone and can relax.

Getting around

Just two blocks off of Av. de la Cultura with bus stops and taxis everywhere. A taxi to plaza de armas costs $1.50 and takes 8 to 10 minutes. A bus costs 25 cents or 70 solis and takes 10 to fifteen minutes. You can walk to Inca Ruins in 30 minutes with no tourists or admission costs.

Other things to note

After living here for years there is no other place that I would rather be.

Richard was an awesome host! Incredibly easy going and full of great knowledge of the area, including historical (Incan) and more present local culture. The apartment is really comfortable and he even has an easy to use hot water function for the shower. Our time in Cusco wouldn't have been the same without Richards guidance.

Richard was an awesome host! Very knowledgeable of the local history and took us on a great walking tour of Cusco. His home is in a nice location, less than 10 minute taxi ride to the Plaza de Armas, in a safe neighborhood with 24/7 security. Quiet at night so you are able to get a good nights sleep. He has tons of information about Cusco and the surrounding areas to read or borrow. He keeps his home clean!! Richard is more than willing to help with anything you may need and also loves to interact with his guests, whether it be just a nice chat in the living room or going on a hike. Would definitely recommend staying with Richard!

Richard is a great host with a wonderful place in a perfect neighborhood. My wife and I stayed with him for almost two weeks and really enjoyed our time. He is available to answer any questions, has a lot of local knowledge, and even took us on a hiking tour of some nearby ruins. His place is cozy, clean, has a spacious bedroom, great wifi, and is very close to many good restaurants. I highly recommend staying with Richard if you're looking for a chilled out experience in a residential zone of Cusco!

Great place to stay in Cusco. Clean apartment, hot showers, a lot of restaurants nearby, and the benefits of having Richard as a guide who takes you places you would have never known otherwise. Highly recommended.

Richard is an awesome host! We had a great time in Cusco and could really see why he loves the city so much. We had a great first night with him: he really knows the city well and the bars, restaurants, and cafes he showed us were all great! He also took us to the ticket office for the trip to Machu Picchu and organized our whole trip, which worked out great. I definitely will visit Cusco again in the future and hope I can hang out with him again!

Richard knows the history Of the " Incas" and always concern about his guest's safety. He also have a great sense of humour. Great feature of his place is hot water which is a necessity in Cusco in the morning and evening shower.

Richard is great! His place was very nice and easy to get to. He helped us navigate Cusco and went with us on many of our adventures to make sure we didn't get lost. He also showed us some hidden Incan ruins! Staying at Richard's place made our trip to Cusco easy and comfortable and I would recommend his place to anyone looking for a great host.

Retired in Cusco for four plus years after living in Costa Rica and Ecuador. I offer one half and full day hikes to neighborhood Inca Ruins and city tours that are included with stay. Knowledgeable of Inca history and night life options of eateries and music clubs. I once played in a local Rock and Blues band. My neighborhood has the best food at the lowest prices in Cusco. Stay with us and experience the best of Cusco at the lowest prices. A new mall is now open just a few blocks away that features an 8 plex movie theater just in case you get tired of hiking. Richard
