Interaction with Guests

I am retired so I am available to answer any questions you may have and am free to give you tours. Just pay the low cost taxi fares and buy me lunch and I will show you why I love this city so much.

The Neighborhood

My neighborhood is the safest with 24/7 guards. It has the best restaurants at the lowest prices. It is full of parks with views of hills dotted with Inca Ruins. It is just off of Ave. de la Cultura that gives you quick access by bus or taxi to the Plaza de Armas. Note: The closer you are to the Plaza de Armas the more expensive EVERYTHING is. Also you are constantly being sold something. In my neighborhood you are left alone and can relax.

Getting around

Just two blocks off of Av. de la Cultura with bus stops and taxis everywhere. A taxi to plaza de armas costs $1.50 and takes 8 to 10 minutes. A bus costs 25 cents or 70 solis and takes 10 to fifteen minutes. You can walk to Inca Ruins in 30 minutes with no tourists or admission costs.

Other Things to Note

After living here for years there is no other place that I would rather be.

  • We are pleased to stay in Richard's house. It was maintained very clean and Richard offered good advice on Inca culture and Cusco city.
Surroundings are very peaceful and within walkable distance there are lot of shops and restaurants.
Cusco's brand new mall is around 10 Min walk. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family for Richard's home. Our family enjoyed stay in Cusco.
All the best Ricard and God bless to you!

  • Staying with Richard was fantastic!! He was a lovely host and went beyond our expectations. He was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the city. He showed us some beautiful restaurants and bars which we would not have come across without his help. He also kindly looked after our bags while we went off on the Inca Trail for 4 days. The bed was very comfortable and clean. A must stay in Cusco. Thanks Richard!

  • Richard was lovely, and very thoughtful. He made me feel very comfortable in his home, making sure I had coffee etc, when I had to get up at the crack of dawn. The room was lovely and very comfortable with great views to wake up to. Thanks Richard!

  • Richard's place was perfect for us to recover from the Inca Trail. Great, quiet location, big sunny room, and the most comfortable bed we have slept on in 6 months. Thanks for everything Richard!

  • Richard was great! Full of local knowledge and loves to share his love for the area. The hike behind his house to the ruins is amazing, and get you away from the other tourists. i had the entire site of the ruins to myself for sunset! The room is exceedingly comfortable, and the shower is nice and hot. Thanks!

  • I spent 8 days at Richard's home.
Everything said and written here so far I totally underwrite because it's all true.
Only the bed has one disadvantage - it is SO very comfy that I found it difficult to leave most mornings. But since this was the only drawback for me I can honestly say, Thank you Richard for your hospitality, general information, sharing of Inka knowledge, and last not least for adapting to your guest's individual needs!
    I wish you well always.

  • Richard was a fabulous host. He led me on a historical sightseeing hike around Cusco and showed me all the highlights. The room was great and the water was hot in the shower. It was only a 10 minute taxi ride from Plaza de Armas. I felt safe in the neighborhood and it was easy to catch a taxi at any time of day. If you want a relaxing and comfortable place in Cusco, this is it!

  • We just stayed here for a quick layover in Cusco before our flight back to Lima.

We didn't get to spend much time with Richard, but he was a gracious host and he even walked us to a good neighborhood restaurant.

It's very close to a supermarket, and it's in one of the nicest areas of Cusco. The streets are very clean and it's very quiet.

The bed was really comfortable, and there was wifi. Overall, a great value!

  • Had an amazing time being hosted by Richard. The room is absolutely lovely; very pretty and clean. Richard is a great travel companion; has spent a lot of time showing me good eats, things to do in the city and took me to an AWESOME hike half an hour outside of Cusco. Staying with Richard is a perfect pick especially if you're traveling alone; you will then appreciate Richard's great company and all the interesting facts and great travel tips that he has to share. Absolutely loved my experience. And absolutely recommend.
