Interaction with Guests
I am retired so I am available to answer any questions you may have and am free to give you tours. Just pay the low cost taxi fares and buy me lunch and I will show you why I love this city so much.
My neighborhood is the safest with 24/7 guards. It has the best restaurants at the lowest prices. It is full of parks with views of hills dotted with Inca Ruins. It is just off of Ave. de la Cultura that gives you quick access by bus or taxi to the Plaza de Armas. Note: The closer you are to the Plaza de Armas the more expensive EVERYTHING is. Also you are constantly being sold something. In my neighborhood you are left alone and can relax.
Just two blocks off of Av. de la Cultura with bus stops and taxis everywhere. A taxi to plaza de armas costs $1.50 and takes 8 to 10 minutes. A bus costs 25 cents or 70 solis and takes 10 to fifteen minutes. You can walk to Inca Ruins in 30 minutes with no tourists or admission costs.
Other Things to Note
After living here for years there is no other place that I would rather be.
You will have your keys and can come and go as you please. If you cook just do your own dishes. No pets please. No smoking inside but you can smoke on the front porch.

Richard's place is located in the nicest neighborhood in Cusco and has lots of food options and is still within a short taxi ride of the old center. The best part for me was the exclusive hike to Inca ruins with no other people there. It was a great experience. Richard is a fun host and has lots of knowledge of the area and can assist you in toe questions. I had a great time staying at Richard's and highly recommend staying there, especially if you like hiking.
Richard was truly a wonderful host! He gave us a lot of information and help, and we enjoyed our conversations.
The apartment and the room was great, we had everything we needed. The location is good, it costs only four soles with a taxi to the city centre.
We enjoyed our stay and has not a single negative feedback.
Our stay with Richard was wonderful. He is a great host and gave us invaluable tips for traveling in and around Cuzco. His apartment is located in a neighborhood with many affordable restaurants and is only blocks away from the new mall. The apartment was clean, cozy, the beds comfortable and Richard was kind enough to let us use both the bedrooms so my brother and I wouldn't have to share/fight for the bed! I would definitely recommend staying at Richard's while staying in Cuzco!
We enjoyed our stay in Richard's house as it's very clean and spacious with hot shower. Richard is very helpful and friendly. He gave us a half day overview of cusco when we arrived; brought us to get the Machu Picchu tickets in town. Even though Richard's place is not near plaza de armas, you can get a cab easily with only 5-6 soles to the city centre. There are some nice restaurants nearby. We would recommend Richard's place if you stay in cusco.
My husband and I really enjoyed staying with Richard. He has a real passion for Cusco and the Inca culture, and genuinely cares about showing his guests around and making sure they get to know the city too. He took us on a walking tour of Cusco one day, with no cost but the taxi fare. We learned a lot from him: it was like staying with a professional guide!
The flat itself is very nice: the bed is comfortable, room is large and spotlessly clean, and the bathroom is fine. The only slight issue is that it is outside of the city centre, where most of the main tourist attractions are found. It's not a big problem though as it is only a ten minute taxi ride away (that costs about 5 soles or $1.7 dollars).
If you have a few days to enjoy in Cusco, this is a really good, comfortable option and you will learn a lot too!
We stayed at Richards for two months and it was a very positive experience. The location is great, it is close to lots of restauraunts, the mall and only a few minutes by taxi or bus to the city center. The neighbourhood is very safe and the people are friendly. Richard was very knowledgable and helpful. The house was spacious and comfortable and our room had a very nice view and lots of space as well! We are very glad we chose to stay here in Cusco!
Retired in Cusco for three plus years after living in Costa Rica and Ecuador. I offer one half and full day hikes to neighborhood Inca Ruins and city tours that are included with stay. Knowledgeable of Inca history and night life options of eateries and music clubs. I once played in a local Rock and Blues band. My neighborhood has the best food at the lowest prices in Cusco. Stay with us and experience the best of Cusco at the lowest prices. A new mall is now open just a few blocks away that features an 8 plex movie theater just in case you get tired of hiking. Richard
