By virtue of its amazing and elegant engineering, the recognition of the historic architectural value of the Ralph Munroe Miami Marine Stadium marks a milestone in Miami-Dade historic preservation. By now the MiMo architectural wonderland of modest motels along Biscayne Boulevard between 54th and 77th Streets, designated a few short years ago, has become Greater Miami's hippest enclave hands down. More recently much of North Beach was placed on the National Register by virtue of its large and fine ensemble of Mid-century Modern neighborhoods and landmarks. This landmark and these districts illustrate the great variety and richness of Greater Miami's Mid-century Modern legacy. After all, the Post-World War II years were an extraordinary time in American history and it was a period of great expansion in Miami. Only 54 years-old in 1950, Greater Miami was destined to be the American metropolis with the greatest proportion of 1950s and 60s architecture. The period's advances in industry, technology and affluence are written across the cityscape.
My boyfriend and I stayed there for 10 nights and enjoyed it very much. Nice relaxed atmosphere and only nice people (other guests as well as hosts). We were lucky and met Branka the day of our departure, apparently she travels a lot :)
there was a cockroach infestation that prevented me from being able to relax. first night, 2 dead cockroaches found; big but maybe a fluke. second night, nothing so maybe it's fine. third night, 3 large and very much alive, scurrying around the kitchen which had my nerves wound up tight. i checked out the next morning rather than staying that 4th night. the place looked so cool and clean in pix but in reality needed a thorough cleaning indoors and out. to make matters worse, branka, who was nowhere to be found during my stay, phoned me and to my disappointment seemed to care mostly about justifying the existence of cockroaches in her house. furthermore telling me that i should've left sooner so she could have booked another guest! i've stayed in 3 other places in southern florida during this time of comparable rate and cockroaches were not a problem. don't buy it when a host tells u it's a soflo norm, it's not. i liken the experience of staying here to that of a youth hostel, no mingling with the host, just other guests. met a couple of friendly ones tho which made the experience better. other things to note, internet spotty and missing the 2nd "b" in bnb.
Branca was not home the time we were there, but we were let in and given the key by a friend on the property. The house was relatively unoccupied for our stay there, so we had lots of privacy, with a full bathroom/ shower and full kitchen with a gorgeous patio and back yard. Everything is GORGEOUSLY decorated. Over all a great experience. The house itself felt very safe, as did Biscayne Blvd., however a few blocks down things could be a little seedier. We ourselves had no problems, acting with basic precautions, and the house is surrounded by motels and condos, so really I couldn't consider it any more dangerous than staying elsewhere in the area (for much more money). ALSO, only two bus transfers to wherever you want to go in Miami. :)
Funky, artsy hostel style home. Convenient location.
Pros: walking along N. Bayshore Drive to Morningside Park, Europa Car Wash & Cafe (best service, pastries, salads & sandwiches, delicious coffee), close to downtown and Miami Beach. Cool in winter, if you want to cook, juice, use refrigerator, it's available. Easy to park if you rent a car.
Cons: bring your own body wash or soap, face cloth, additional towel, facial tissues, and slippers. It's historic, and could use a thorough cleaning, especially the bathroom. Dogs barking in the neighborhood, sirens, can be noisy at night. No locks on bathroom or the room I stayed at. I changed my stay, to stay with a friend in Broward County, told the host to keep the payment for the additional night, since it was short notice, and was asked if I could cancel the whole trip to stay elsewhere, due to an overbooking situation; it was too late in my trip to find another option, and another companion was to arrive to stay in the room with me, and the overbooking happened previous to my reservation, which was booked way in advance.
Hopefully, this helps your decision-making process. Cheers!

Friendly host, comfortable place to stay! If you have a car, it will be better. You don't need to worry about parking, it's totally free parking, and it just takes 15mins drive to Miami Beach.
Cool place if you want piece of mind. Will visit again
Branka's house was nicely set close to the water amidst loads of tropical plants and greenery. Branka made sure she notified us that the room won't be ready till 2 pm that afternoon. We left our luggage and it was safely transferred into our room.
Hiwever, We had a few critical issues with our room. This room was one of the 3 rooms within the house that was being occupied. There was no latch for our room door. There was no way we could latch out door. Hence security was an issue especially given the fact that one of the Two front doors that allow for entrance into the house was wide open with no lock or latch. The second entrance door had a weak and flimsy turn latch.
The air conditioner never seemed to work. The windows were all open for some reason and our windows wouldn't even come down. The temp on the AC was set to 70 but the house temperature was at 78 all night. In addition the room did not have a fan. This made for a sleepless night. Switching on the AC to cool the house disturbed the neighbors in the adjacent room as the compressor, which was loud, was just beside their bedroom window. The glass sliding door to the porch also did not have any lock on it. A long wooden stick was laid across to prevent it from opening. So security was a major issue. It may have been a safe neighborhood but safety is always a necessary precaution.
Enes was helpful with recommendations of places to visit and eat. However, we had to wait 30 min in the afternoon to get the keys because instructions were not communicated clearly.
Inspite of the quiet stay safety was very inadequate. The decor in the verified photos looked cool but is different once we got there. There is minimal lighting in the house. That wasn't really an issue but safety was. In conclusion the stay was below satisfactory.
What a find! Such a nice location, warm & welcoming hosts, and reasonably priced - couldn't ask for more. Love all the artistic touches. Hang out on the porch, work at one of the tables or lounge in the garden - this place has it all. The hosts even invited us to a holiday party! Great place to stay, highly recommended.
