This is a great, convenient budget option. The best part is the location - we visited lots of beaches around the island and really think Carlisle bay and Pebbles beach might have been the top because it's long, not very crowded, and the water is perfectly flat - don't know why they are not mentioned more in the guidebooks! Also very convenient to get the bus to other place - every time you step on the street there is a bus! Pack light and don't take a taxi to and from the airport when you can spend just $2 on a bus.
The hosts are very helpful, the place was clean, and the kitchen has everything you need. I recommend the sea turtle snorkeling excursion at Carlisle bay - the turtles were a lot cuter and more interesting than I even expected! I would also suggest that if you are a light sleeper you might want to bring earplugs because it is a small house with many guests staying, so you can always hear other people talking and moving around.
Hope you enjoy your trip to Barbados- we definitely did!
If you are looking for a homie feeling away from home that's the place. Shelly and Manuel are great hosts. The welcoming feeling and help around local places really made our trip easier. We were on a student budget and Shelly told us where to get fresh fruits and vegetables on a good price. The location is great as it's 2 minutes away from the beach and Bridgetown. We felt like we had the freedom to do whatever we needed to do in the house which gave us a really comfortable feeling.
If you are looking for a spot in Barbados this is it!! They made us feel like its family and we will definitely come back. :)
We stayed with Shelly and Manuel for a week and it was the best time of our lives! They are amazing people and hosts who were there whenever we needed anything. The house is very clean, spacious, centrally located for everything, only 5-minute walk from the best beach in Barbados. (Carlisle Bay) We went out every night and came back home around midnight and although we were two girls, we felt very safe walking back home.
Shelly provided great recommendations for restaurants and places to see. She gave us an island tour on our last day and we discovered the history and the culture of this amazingly beautiful island. But more importantly, we got to spend a day with Shelly which was one of the best parts of our vacation. Shelly is such a strong, intellectual and wise woman that she inspired us in many ways which made our short Barbados vacation transforming and refreshing. It was a privilege to know her.
We are very grateful and we highly recommend everybody to stay with them if you want to experience a real Bajan living.
We stayed one week in the beautiful and lively Dunlow Cottage. Rachel and Manuel are such lovely and caring hosts who made us feel very welcome at all times. Unforgettable was the day tour to the east coast where Rachel had taken us to have a fantastic local food experience as well as a beautiful swim next to the cliff. We are very grateful and can only recommend everybody to stay with them if you want a real bajan experience. Thank you so much!
Rachel and her husband were amazing hosts!!! They always helped us to find great local restaurants, the best beach locations, ticket for cricket or whatever we wanted to do. The room was perfect clean and spacious with it's own patio. They were very decent and you always felt save and could enjoy privacy if you wanted to. Last evening we had an amazing barbecue. Rachel is a great cook!!! Location was also really good. Close to the beach (5min by walk) and city centre (15min by walk).
We totally recommend this accommodation!
Thank you for everything! We looking forward to come back!

Rachel (a.k.a Shelley) and her husband Manny are amazingly accommodating hosts. I stayed with them for 6 nights when visiting Barbados to complete a visa interview at the US Embassy. They made my stay extremely comfortable in their lovely home, and Manny even gave me a ride to the interview. The location is fantastic, a short walk to Bridgetown, and a beautiful beach just a stone's throw away from their home. There are lots of busses nearby that will take you anywhere you need to go on the island. Shelley is also a fantastic chef and they offer meals at a small cost if their schedule permits. I highly recommend staying here and getting to know the island from the perspective of these friendly locals.
Thank you very much for being such a great host. With your help and kindness we got to see much more than we would have without you.
