About this listing
We encourage you to read this entire description:
This space blends modern minimalism with traditional Berlin character. The entire apartment was renovated in 2014/2015 under the supervision of two brilliant Finnish designers, Martti Mela and Tuula Vitie.
The apartment is in an Altbau building constructed in 1906.
Beautiful high ceilings with original mouldings
Free Wi-Fi and selection of books about Berlin
Large kitchen with all new appliances including a Bialetti espresso pan, chef's set of knives, toaster, blender, kettle, induction cooktops, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The kitchen is stocked with olive oil, balsamic and other every day essentials as well as some great cookbooks.
Luxury bathroom with complimentary Aesop premium shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Hair dryer and iron available as well.
Real Finnish sauna.
A balcony overlooking lively Prenzlauer Allee.
Baby bed, a high chair and kids toys, books, and puzzles.
We use eco-friendly cleaning supplies and the apartment is professionally cleaned.
One bedroom overlooking the courtyard and one bedroom/2nd living room with very large, heavy doors and independent access to the bathroom, guaranteeing privacy for its occupants. The bedroom overlooking the courtyard has a comfy bed with box springs and the 2nd bedroom has wooden bed handcrafted by Walden Beds.
The place can sleep five comfortably but is best suited for four.
PLEASE NOTE: The apartment is one flight of stairs up and there is no elevator. Our apartment is beautiful but it is on a busy street, PrenzlauerAllee. The tram runs right down this large boulevard. The master bedroom overlooks a peaceful courtyard but the 2nd bedroom overlooks lively PrenzlauerAllee. The most beautiful parts of the neighbourhood, like Kollwitz Platz, the Water tower, etc. are a few blocks away.
Also, we do not have a grand entrance or a grand lobby. Rather, the entrance to the building is often covered in graffiti! Very Berlin but not for everyone!
If you have any questions about the place or the layout, don't hesitate to send me a message. We always do our best to accommodate our guests' special requests.
The apartment is near bicycle rentals, several organic grocery stores (regular supermarkets too), and all of the wonderful cafes, restaurants, bars, brunch spots, and parks that Prenzlauer Berg has to offer.
There are great playgrounds for kids close to the apartment. Our favorite is just across the street on Sredzkistrasse because it has a circus theme.
Interaction with Guests
When we rent out our place, we're usually out of town so our friends Essi and Valentin host for us. They are adorable young Berliners with tons of knowledge about the local art scene and night life. Their hosting style is very professional, polite, warm and wonderful. Our guests are very appreciative of their hosting style!
We have put down Check-out time as noon and Check-in time as 3, but we can be flexible except in cases where we need to turn the apartment around quickly for the next guest.
The Neighbourhood is awesome with wonderful restaurants and peaceful, leafy streets.
To quote from the Air bnb neighborhood guide for Prenzlauer Berg:
Snuggled between Berlin’s contemporary glass towers and austere concrete slabs, Prenzlauer Berg exudes a wholesome atmosphere comprised of tree-lined streets, colourful boutiques, and a sprightly mix of new parents and university students. The artists and alternative individuals who populated Prenzlauer Berg in the 1990s have grown up. Now, the babies of these once-upon-a-time bohemians clamour for organic soy ice cream while young scholars pass hookah hoses, exemplifying a dynamic fusion of multiple generations.
Characteristics of the neighborhood:
a million cafés
The place also has easy access to Alexanderplatz and the S-bahn is two tram stops away. The tram stops half a block from the apartment at Danzigerstrasse.
Smoke only on the balcony. Please take your shoes off when inside the apartment. Please read the entire description of the apartment, location, amenities, etc. Thank you!
