The house is located in friendly and diverse West End, a 3km walk from the CBD. It is full of character, and is home to a small family.
The room overlooks the river, has a double bed and is comfortably decked out, with a desk and clothes storage.
The house is colourful and eclectic: nothing minimal here! It is comfortable and loved. It's in a great location, right on the river, a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal of West End, close to buses, the city and South Bank. The room is comfortable and can accommodate 2 people max.
We kindly ask to be given a day's notice before planned arrival. :)
Coffee & Tea facilities in the room
Kitchen (BYO food + clean up)
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting new people, so we tend to interact a bit, but also respect your privacy completely!
West End is close to South Bank beach and the city centre. It's hilly and has lots of green spaces. The river is nearby, so are 3 of the major universities (UQ, QUT and Griffith). Close to the Cultural Centre (Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery and State Library). Cinemas nearby too. Some nice river walks, organic food stores and great markets on Saturdays.
Possibility to join a network of bike hires which allows you pick a bike at a designated spot and drop it off at another for a fee.
Note that helmets are compulsory in Queensland.
Loads of bars, restaurants and cafes; record store etc etc!
Parking available at the house
If you need info to get here, please contact me after your booking has been accepted and I'll send you all the details.
Other Things to Note
We have a cat with long hair (I'm not mentioning it for style purposes, it's more of an allergy thing)
Limited noise at night and no smoking :)
I really enjoyed my stay at Carolyn's. The house is located in a quiet residential area right by the river. It's a bit of walk to the ferry stop, but you will enjoy it when the weather is nice. Carolyn is also a great host, highly recommended! The only downside is that the room does get hot during the day since there's no AC... But overall a wonderful experience:)
Loved Caro's house! It was the perfect retreat to unwind after a long day at UQ. Nestled amongst the trees, hearing the kookaburras and watching the bats glide past was a treat. Caro generously cooked for me on my first night and was welcoming throughout my stay making it a very relaxing time. She also has great taste in music. Highly recommended!
Hi, it was really nice an uncomplicated stay at Caro's house.
Wonderful place, quiet and nice river views.
I felt almost like at home.

Caro was a wonderful host! her place is beautiful and shows of her personality. The room just has the best view of the river. I stayed there with my baby son and she was so great with him and he just loved her! Location was great with a short walk to the ferry or the city glider which is just what I needed. I highly recommend a stay at Caro's beautiful home.
Thank you for hosting me on such short notice! Carolyn's home is warm and welcoming. Beautiful river view with her lovely kids and a gentle cat :-) I do hope our paths will cross again soon someday!
Amazing staying! Thank you Caro to make me feel like at home (with family)!
Hello! I am an interior stylist and mother of 10yr old twins.
We're a pretty relaxed family; active at times and homely at others, we like a good time, the outdoors and traveling. Things we can't do without are the beach, music and each other!... and chocolate.
Living in West End is great! Close to the city, we have everything we need here, including the artificial beach at South Bank (spot where World Expo 1988 took place). From one of Brisbane's most excellent independent bookstore (Avid Reader) to great coffee houses, bars and many restaurants, West End has it all.
We are part of a diverse, generous and creative community.
