I do appreciate and thank Elena for her honesty, as these points help me to become a better host and person in general. I must say of all the guests I've hosted Elena is the first one arrival or me not having a doorbell (an issue I will rectify shortly) has really been a major problem for. Not only did she have no mobile network, the WiFi at KFC was down, which lead to her walking to McDonald's. She was very vague with her timing and communication. If you message me letting me know you're on the way and will be 15/30 minutes or providing a specific ETA its much more effective than I'll be there around 12/1 pm. I do go out of my way to do my best for my guests, but I also have a life, so communication has to be clear and effective, as I do have other responsibilities. As mentioned, when she contacted me, I went out of my way to pick her and her luggage up for no extra cost. What she didn't mention is check in time at my place is 3pm and I allowed her to check in around 2 or more hours early for no extra cost. My room is clearly listed as a smoking room and Elena knew that when booking it, if the smell in the bathroom was a problem, she could have mentioned it to me in person or sent me a message. In future I'll provide an air freshener in the bathroom. I could have not smoked there for her stay, no big deal... but I can only address a problem that I have been made aware of. I feel it kind of unfair for her to have said nothing of this during her stay and then to write "people who are sensitive to smells shouldn't come". I feel kind of hard done by receiving this, it wasn't all bad but I guess 3 stars is her interpretation of her experience. It's all part of being a host anyway, at least I can see points on my listing which can be improved, so I'm thankful for that.
