    Response from Alan:

    Mahalo Anna!

Hope to have another opportunity to host you.

Mahalo, too, for your kind words.

  • It was perfect for our overnight stay as we were traveling with our daughter and son-in-law. We liked that a nice breakfast (oh, the warm scones!!!) was included and a perfect location. The furnishings could use sprucing up, but was adequate.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Aaron's Cottage. Alan and Penne were so friendly and helpful. Alan even went out of his way to help me when I made a mistake on my flight departure time. He stopped what he was doing and drove me to the airport so I didn't miss my flight. The breakfasts were great with plenty of fresh fruit and having a communal kitchen available helped with heating up leftovers or cooking a quick snack.

  • Penny and Alan were amazing hosts! We stayed at Aaron's cottage with our two kids between rooms 7 and 8. Alan and Penny provided us with extremely clean accommodations, a great location, perfect breakfast, and great local help. Our kids got to shoot hoops with Alan and Penny both as well as eat dinner outside both nights. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend Alan and Penny as hosts and their "Aaron's cottage".

  • We had a great stay. Alan and his wife, Penne, were wonderful hosts. The communal kitchen was well stocked with the comforts of home. One morning Penne made a smoked pork fried rice that was over the top. The bathroom was well appointed, and a nice size fridge in the room as well. The short walk down to the secluded beach was a treat. Look forward to visiting again.

  • Awesome place to stay! Very comfortable and great host! We appreciated the smooth check-in and helpful tourist information! If we are able to come to Hawaii again, we will definitely stay at Aaron's Cottage and we highly recommend it to others!.

  • Aaron's Cottage was easy to find, very clean and comfortable, and nice and quiet at night. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of food items provided for breakfast - very international! - although I guess that shouldn't be a surprise considering how diverse Hawai'i actually is. Alan and Penne were very welcoming and very helpful! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again!

  • Where does one begin to describe the experience of staying at a little piece of Hawaiian paradise? We have stayed at many places in the islands while working Kauai, Maui, and Big Island, and when we found this little gem just south of downtown Hilo, we knew we had found the perfect place for our combined working/family reunion trip with our children from New Zealand and New Orleans. Taking over the entire place - all three bedrooms, all with private bathrooms, TV and efficiency refrigerators plus outside screened kitchen - was absolutely perfect for all of us to spread out and have privacy, yet be close enough to instantly join each other at the "outside living room" on the back lawn which has outdoor furniture, lamps, umbrellas with set-in lighting, eating tables, and barbecue.

Alan and Penne were superb hosts, tending to our every need. Penne's freshly prepared breakfast choices can only be described as FANTASTIC! DELICIOUS! and AMAZING!! ALL with authentic, organic and fresh ingredients from the island, and such generous portions that it carried us into the evening. So,for those on a budget, you're good to go for the entire day until dinner! The breakfast is delivered each morning to the kitchen where we could leisurely eat when we arose, make coffee, sit outside and relax while dining. I especially liked this "free-style" dining as there were no time pressures.

Penne and Alan also prepared a Hawaiian Christmas Feast that was so beautiful and so full of such precious memories with our family and our hosts, that I cannot even try to describe it - my heart is still so full of special moments spent with my family at the cottage .... suffice it to say that if you truly want to experience Hawaii and a Aloha vacation where you feel the true blessings of Hawaii and not the typical tourist areas, Aaron's Cottage in Hilo is definitely the place to stay. You will feel at home, so be sure to respect it in that fashion - let down your hair, leave behind all the frustrations and fast pace of the city and work life on the mainland, grab your snorkel and mask, put on some "slippas!" and let Penne and Alan welcome you to the true spirit of Hawaii. We WILL return so keep those tiki torches burning! :)
