The neighborhood

Buxton is known as the” Cultural Capital” of the Peak District, with the magnificent Opera House being the venue for a wide variety of music, dance and theatre events during the year. Most notably, the Opera House plays host to the prestigious Buxton Festival and Fringe, and the Four-Four Time festival of live music.

As a spa town, Buxton has been a popular holiday resort for centuries and the newly opened Spa complex in the University of Derby Dome (formerly the Devonshire Hospital) has done much to re-instate this part of the town’s heritage.

The town is also blessed with magnificent architecture, a wealth of shops, and a thriving Arts scene.

Based at the heart of the Peak District and situated just over a thousand feet up in the Derbyshire hills, Buxton is the ideal base for climbing, caving, mountain biking, walking, bird watching, horse riding, gliding and much more.

I am also close to many of the region’s top visitor attractions including Chatsworth House and the show caves at Castleton.

I am happy to provide you with walking maps and guide books and advise you about favourite walks, restaurants and pubs and excursions.

What a heavenly nights sleep. Tucked up in the vast eaves of a grand house, Nigel's guest room is superb. It is immaculately clean and meticulously decorated in fresh and contemporary colours as is the bathroom and the rest of the flat (which I was free to use) The room is exceptionally spacious with a chaise from which to enjoy calming open views of the tree tops and Buxton beyond. All manner of breakfast goods were offered and Nigel was quite the bon viveur- chatty and cheerful yet modest and attentive. This has to be the finest and best value place to stay in the heart of Buxton! Thank you Nigel. I shall be back!

We've just returned from three nights at Nigel's flat. Nigel was a fantastic host and the flat was spacious, clean and homely. He provided a wide range of breakfast options and was always on hand to give advice and discuss the day's adventures! Buxton is also a super spot with plenty going on, as well as easy access to major Peak District attractions. Would recommend to all!

Nigel was the perfect host! His communication prior to arrival was spot on. He told us how the weather was and gave us tips for dining in the area. He lives in a fantastic top floor flat, modernly furnished and very cozy. Bed was very comfy, and his breakfast was fantastic! Nigel was very helpful in giving us advice about activities in the local area and really friendly. Do not hesitate, go ahead and book.
