Ruthann was more than accommodating. She opened her home to me and my family with a smile and we left with the her world renowned muffins. The house itself is top notch. The bathroom is a mini spa equipped with a shower steamer. I can't wait for a reason to go back in visit. Perfectly positioned in between Charlottesville and Harrisonburg. Thanks again Ruth!!!
We really enjoyed our stay with Ruthann! She was very friendly and her house is beautiful in a very scenic location. The room itself is very nice and big with a massive ensuite bathroom. She made a delicious breakfast of muffins, fresh fruit and coffee in the morning. We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
Fantastic location with beautiful surroundings! Ruthann made us feel really at home in her gorgeous house. She was friendly, helpful and pleasant. We also loved the muffins she baked for us and really appreciated her tips about local wineries. We would definitely like to stay with her again in future visits to Shenandoah national park.
My daughter and I stayed at the lovely Parker Mountain House to celebrate my daughter's 16ht birthday. Ruthann contacted me beforehand to see if there was a special treat that I'd like for my daughter. She went out of her way to find a bakery that made her favorite dessert and had it waiting for us--complete with birthday candles and festive place settings. It was delicious--and so thoughtful.
The house is so lovely and comfortable and Ruthann's kind hospitality was so appreciated. After a day out shopping, we returned to a roaring fire in the fireplace and cups of hot tea.
I would recommend staying here wholeheartedly!
We had an incredible time at Parker Mountain House over Valentine's Day weekend! Ruthann was an absolutely exceptional host, going above and beyond our wildest expectations to make our stay comfortable and fun. She communicated with me before our stay about our preferences and offered some great advice about things to do and see in the area.
The room was exactly as pictured, spacious and warm, with a lovely view of the mountains (and dear god, I could LIVE in that big comfy bed!). We definitely took advantage of the steam shower and soaking tub, and so enjoyed having breakfast and coffee in the mornings looking out at the pastoral views-- Ruthann's awesome muffins certainly didn't hurt!
Although we felt like we were in our own private mountain hide-away, the house was perfectly situated and very convenient for us to go off and explore nearby towns, from Charlottesville to Harrisonburg, Luray and Stanton, we had a lot of fun driving through back roads and taking the Skyline Drive through the National Park. I'm sure that in warmer weather hiking trails would be conveniently close.
We had a fantastic, restful stay and a great Valentine's Day weekend thanks to Ruthann. We can't recommend Parker Mountain House highly enough!
About the Host, Ruthann
I love living on the outskirts of Charlottesville , allowing quick and easy access to the city while having the quiet and privacy of country living. Meeting new people on their own adventures is great fun for me. This is how I traveled in my younger days and most memories are laden with the people I've met along the way. And so I'm available to chat or to give you your space, either way works for me.
