We had an incredible time at Parker Mountain House over Valentine's Day weekend! Ruthann was an absolutely exceptional host, going above and beyond our wildest expectations to make our stay comfortable and fun. She communicated with me before our stay about our preferences and offered some great advice about things to do and see in the area.
The room was exactly as pictured, spacious and warm, with a lovely view of the mountains (and dear god, I could LIVE in that big comfy bed!). We definitely took advantage of the steam shower and soaking tub, and so enjoyed having breakfast and coffee in the mornings looking out at the pastoral views-- Ruthann's awesome muffins certainly didn't hurt!
Although we felt like we were in our own private mountain hide-away, the house was perfectly situated and very convenient for us to go off and explore nearby towns, from Charlottesville to Harrisonburg, Luray and Stanton, we had a lot of fun driving through back roads and taking the Skyline Drive through the National Park. I'm sure that in warmer weather hiking trails would be conveniently close.
We had a fantastic, restful stay and a great Valentine's Day weekend thanks to Ruthann. We can't recommend Parker Mountain House highly enough!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Parker Mountain House on Nov 14th, 2014. It might be better labeled Parker Mountain Spa. The bathroom is that nice. The house was immaculate. We loved the view of Parker Mountain out of the bedroom picture window. A light breakfast was served to us the following morning, with freshly baked muffins, fruit, coffee and hot chocolate. Ruthann, our host, asked for any special requests before our visit, and saw that my wife got her cup of extra-strong hot chocolate.
Before we arrived, our youngest daughter got sick. I checked with Ruthann to see if it would be ok to bring her. She said she would be happy to make arrangements for our daughter, or to cancel, if necessary.
You won't find a more pleasant, accomdating host. I highly recommend Parker Mountain House.
Ruthann was very cordial, the house/scenery was beautiful, and the location was very (email hidden)d quiet! Enjoyed the soaking tub, and steam shower; never turned on the TV! A nice natural fire with glass of wine in the evening prior to retiring, and a very tasty breakfast of muffins and fruits the next morning. Definitely two thumbs up!
We had an absolutely fabulous time at Parker Mountain House. The house is beautiful with great views, and the room was lovely with a super comfy bed! The steam shower and soaker tub were a blessing after hiking, and Ruthann gave us tons of recommendations for restaurants/things to do in the area. She even left us a plate of the best carrot cake I've ever had in celebration of my birthday :) She was super accommodating of our early start the next morning, complete with delicious banana nut muffins and coffee and she gave us some great hike recommendations for that day. We had a great experience with Ruthann and would definitely stay at Parker Mountain House again!
Brian and I had a great time. The space was luxurious and scenic, and Ruthann was very accommodating and welcoming. She made delicious blueberry & peach muffins, and banana nut the following morning for breakfast. We shared our interests with her, and she gave us recommendations of places to see and things to do.
I would highly recommend staying at Parker Mountain House if you visit Charlottesville. Ruthann was a great hostess!
Ruthann is such a sweatheart, what a wonderful host! My fiance and I had the best time staying at her place in Stanardsville, which is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. You can see ALL of the stars at night, you can hear nothing but cows, and her backyard is full of beautiful birds in the morning. As for the room, it's impeccably kept and worth every single penny. Normally I wouldn't comment on the bathroom, but the beautiful bathtub and steam shower are just...AMAZING! Don't hesitate, stay here!
My fiancé and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Ruthann's place - she is a warm, friendly, and gracious host and her home is beautiful. Location is great for hiking and for the views, so peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend.
I love living on the outskirts of Charlottesville , allowing quick and easy access to the city while having the quiet and privacy of country living. Meeting new people on their own adventures is great fun for me. This is how I traveled in my younger days and most memories are laden with the people I've met along the way. And so I'm available to chat or to give you your space, either way works for me.
