This is a laid back apartment with friendly, helpful hosts. The space is cleaned regularly and between guest(s).
You will have access to all the amenities in the apartment:
clean towels and linen
first aid kit
This is your temporary home away from home so please make yourself comfortable.
Interaction with Guests
This is my home; you will see me during your visit. I will happily show you around the neighborhood and make suggestions.
This is a really amazing, safe area in Brooklyn close to the waterfront with great energy. The neighborhood is considered very trendy with a lot of artists, musicians and unconventional types. There is a lot happening in this neighborhood - restaurants, bars, music venues, movie theaters, shopping, bike rental, grocery store, laundromat, two parks all in walking distance, etc.; you will not be bored. The guidebook is a work in progress since there are so many things to do.
The apartment itself is near three subway lines all one stop from Manhattan and several bus lines.
Taxi cabs are frequently in the neighborhood and there are two cab companies within walking distance of the apartment.
Not many rules but here they are:
No smoking inside the apartment
Please keep the common areas - living room, kitchen, bathroom clean (i.e. wash dishes after using)
Communicate the time of check-in and check out via airbnb prior to your arrival, this way arrangements can be made for key exchange.
Leave the room as clean as you found it.
Only those reserving the room are expected to stay (sleep overnight) in the apartment.
The middle shelf in the fridge is yours. The middle shelf in the medicine cabinet is also for you and the bottom shelf on the shower caddy is yours
Please remember that we have entered into a mutually beneficial arrangement. That said manners - please, thank you, excuse me and overall civilized behavior is much appreciated.
Enjoy your stay :-)
Anika was a fantastic host - everything was ready even though I arrived a little earlier than expected, and she was very friendly and happy to provide recommendations and chat when around. The room was perfect - clean and a good size with a working air conditioner (bliss considering we arrived during a heatwave). The location also could not be better - just a few minutes from a ridiculous array of shops and cafes, as well as the station which is just a few minutes from Manhattan. I wish I'd stayed here my whole trip!
Location, location, location! And a friendly host. Those are the most important features you can expect here. If you're looking for a nice, affordable place to stay in Brooklyn, with Manhattan just 1 subway stop away, Anika's place is pretty perfect. She's a trustworthy person who's helpful and respects your privacy at the same time. (Just remember to bring earplugs if you're not a deep sleeper; the airconditioning/heather tends to hum.)
My wife and I had a wonderful stay. We arrived on a warm day and the room's air conditioner was already thoughtfully plugged in and running. The room was clean, the wifi fast, and one really couldn't ask for a better location, close to shopping and the subway. We also appreciated that there was a power strip in the room to plug in multiple electronics. Due to conflicting schedules, we didn't get a chance to speak much with Anika, but we did get a chance to speak with her roommate, Brian, who was easy going and thoughtful. We highly recommend this for all future Airbnb-ers!
Excellent stay with Anika! I was Very sad to leave today and would happily move in permanently :-). Great flat, comfy bed, and in such a cool area and so close to the action and subway. Anika was a great host and made me very welcome. Would definitely stay again, thanks!
Anika was a great host and the location of the apartment ist very good. The room has AC which is very comfortable.
Anika´s place is A W S O M E, in all the extent of the capital wording. It´s a few blocks from the subway that takes you directly to Manhattan in a few stops, then it depends where you want to go. My BF and I, walked from Brooklyn to Meat Packing District and it was amazing, just walking around, taking our time to see NYC. If you are more adventurous try the Citibikes! They are pretty good and there are tons of bike lanes everywhere... just mind the tourist around Times Sq... they are madly walking on the streets and won´t move that fast.
Anika´s place is set in a great neighborhood. Lots of restaurants, bars and nightlife but do take in mind nothing opes early... the borough comes to life around 11 in the morning, if you are an early bird the good places open late but the neighborhood is worth it. The street is well lit and it feels safe even walking really late at night.
Anika was so friendly and quick to response to our messages. She is happy to share some tips about the city and I think she even get´s some tips about her own city from the tourists she meets. One night we had dinner with her and it was great to get to know someone like her. Her place feels like a home, away from home.
If I go back to NY I would look Anika´s listing as my #1 option.

About the Host, Anika
I am friendly housemate who grew up in NYC. As a Register Nurse my schedule can be unpredictable. On my days off I enjoy exploring the cultural and social richness - museums, restaurants, live music and amazing people that this city provides both in my neighborhood and the rest of NYC.
