About this listing
If you are looking for a beautiful holiday home in Edinburgh, then look no further! This is a first floor flat in traditional tenement, excellent location, south facing, with uninterrupted views of Holyrood park. There are high ceilings, large windows, and many period features. I know i am biased, but i think this really is the most beautiful street in the
city to stay in because it frames the dramatic Holyrood Park, making you feel like you
are in the Highlands, yet you are actually just minutes from the city action.
The flat is within walking distance to Royal Mile (0.8mile), The Pleasance, Waverley Station. (EH8 8JD) are 1 mile away. You can reach Princes Street in 20minutes by foot. If you like to travel by
bus, then you can catch a bus into the city centre from meadowbank stadium, on london road, here buses stop every 3/4minutes.
Free on street parking. Lots of local shops, takeaways and restaurants nearby.

The thing I love most about this part of town is Holyrood Park. This dramatic landscape is really a sport and nature lovers paradise.
Great bus links from London road, which is a 2 minute walk from the flat.
Other Things to Note
There is no TV but this isn't a problem because there is wifi which means you can watch the bbc from your computer. The BBC iplayer shows most of the BBC programmes for free in the UK.
sorry, no pets and no smoking.
This apartment was a wonderful base for my family of 4. The location was so ideal that we had a rental car for our time in Edinburgh that we didn't use once it was parked in front of the apartment. The stroll through Holyrood Park, was always a nice beginning/end to our adventures further in town. The grocery store was a quick walk away. The view from the apartment was incredible and hinted at the fun just waiting outside the door. Our kids are 11 and 16 and used to walking as we live in a large city. If you had little ones, or weren't accustomed to walking, you might want a car. Inside, the apartment was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including the two things my family requires to for happiness: a washing machine and the almighty wifi. We will definitely return to Melissa's apartment again the next time we are in Edinburgh.
Gute Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin! Die Ausstattung war etwas schlechter als erwartet (durch die Bilder).
The appartment is well located at 20 min walk from the city center with a beautifull view on Holyrood park. Quiet place in a housing area. This appartment is nice and convenient for a family, after the building's door that would need to be painted. There is a mall with shops and supermarket at about 15 min walk. A good ratio quality / price.
Melissa's husband, Romain, met us and was very welcoming and understanding despite our slightly late arrival. I was sorry not to have met Melissa, however. I had a few questions about recycling, grocery shopping, etc., which Melissa answered very quickly.
I have to say, however, that, the apartment is more basic than what we expected, given the pictures. It reminded me somewhat of a student apartment. While it is large, very bright (it helped that we had wonderful, sunny weather) and has a wonderful view of Holyrood Park, it lacks a little charm and is a bit old. More importantly, the kitchen is not very well equipped: it has just enough dishes for four people, only one larger metal bowl, not enough wine glasses (there were only two), no teapot (surprising given how much tea is drunk in Scotland!), only one dish cloth, no salad spinner, very few knives that didn't cut well, etc. Since we cooked every night, this posed a certain number of challenges. On the other hand, there was plenty of dish detergent and laundry soap.
The other, and more major, problem was that the bathroom smelled of urine and, despite cleaning out the toilet several times, a slight, unpleasant smell lingered. I wrote Melissa about it several times and she was going to look into it after our departure. Given that there is a sizable cleaning fee attached to this apartment, this problem is rather puzzling.
The second bedroom is quite tiny. For us, this wasn't a problem because we were three. But when the trundle bed is pulled out for a fourth person, there is no room to move.
For all these reasons, when you factor in the cleaning charge and the Airbnb fee, I found the apartment a bit pricey for what it was. Having said this, however, we still had a wonderful time in Edinburgh and would recommend this place once the problem of the smell in the bathroom is sorted out.
The Royal Park Terrace location is a fantastic way to start each morning on your adventure to Edinburgh. The Flat is well maintained and within a short "frequent serviced" bus ride to the downtown area. For the explorer, there are exciting paths to explore in the nearby Holyrood Park. Enjoy your stay - we did!!!
Very nice. Roland, Melissa`s husband, welcome us in the apartment. Everything is well detailed in the instructions manual left in the house. The apartment is a bit old, but everything is well maintained. Close to the building you can find a Sansbury, a bus stop (plenty of lines serving to city centre), a sports bar (perfect to watch the Champion`s final) and, of course, the Holyrood Palace and the Parliament building. We were given 2 sets of key (very important when you travel with 3 or more people). The only complaint is that the rooms don`t have a proper blackout on the window. So it`s quite bothering in a land where the sun sets at 10h30pm and rises at 4h30am in the summer. Apart from that, everything was very good! Ps: worth to mention the special attention from Melissa when offered us a box of toys for our child. Even if we don`t have one yet, we felt it was very nice of her!!
I stayed at Melissa's apartment for four nights with my son, and our stay was very enjoyable. Romain welcomed us and gave a good, brief introduction to whatever there was to know. The apartment is very well equipped for cooking, but we really only needed the fridge and the microwave;) The washing machine was also great to have. The rooms and the beds were also very nice.
The location is just excellent. The neighbourhood is nice and quiet. The supermarket nearby is some 10 minutes walk away so it's really easy to get groceries. There are buses every few minutes to take you to city center. We also used a taxi a couple of times, the fare to city center was a reasonable 6 - 7 pounds. (If you use taxis try the Central Taxis smartphone app, it's very handy.)
If you stay at this apartment make sure you have (lots of;) time to visit the Holyrood Park! It is unbelievably beautiful, and you can just take a relaxed, easy walk or have as hard an excercise as you want. I wish we had had one or two extra days just to explore the park some more.
Thank you so much Melissa and Romain, we had a great stay in Edinburgh!
