We love to meet all kinds of folks and would be happy to recommend a few places based on your preferences, or even show you a few if we are available that day! We will be present for most of the time during your stay, as there is always farm work to do, but we like to work hard and get out and play too.

Our backyard is fenced and available for use, we simply ask owners to be mindful of their pet's behavior, especially in regard to their interaction with our livestock.
Staying at the Roost was a great experience! Tara makes a great effort to make sure you feel well taken care of- a French press and tea in each room, scones available to snack on, and access to beer, wine and liquor. The breakfast was delicious, an omelet served with chemex coffee and orange juice. We loved out stay!
AMAZING BnB! Tara and her husband were so welcoming, and we felt like we were at home! Friendly and quiet environment. Happy people, even the animals were happy! Tara was so understanding. She was so kind to let us bring both our dogs, one of which is a little puppy. She was so gracious and accommodating. Definitely recommend this BnB in West Asheville.
Tara and Patrick were great, super hospitable and accommodating. We asked to bring a 3rd person last minute and they were great about offering a little cot to place in our bedroom for her. Great recommendations from locals for things to do, like restaurants, hiking trails, etc. The house had a lot of charm. Very easy driving distance to the city (maybe 6 minutes to downtown).
My husband and I stayed at the Roost for our anniversary, and we had an excellent time. Tara and Patrick are warm and generous hosts who were friendly and accommodating of us during our 7 night stay.
The Roost is situated very close to downtown Asheville, but we ended up spending a lot of time in West Asheville as well. There are a lot of great shops, restaurants, and bars in walking distance and our hosts had great suggestions for things to do and places to eat in town.
Breakfast was fantastic every morning. In a city full of great food, I can confidently say some of the best we had was at the Roost. We saw several guest come and go, some with dietary restrictions, and rest assured that anyone with special needs will receive just as delicious a meal as those without.
I was drawn to the uniqueness of this listing when we were planning our trip. The house is over 100 years old, but even though we stayed in January, we didn't have trouble keeping warm with central heat and space heaters readily available. I had not stayed in a situation with shared bathrooms before, but I never had to wait and the upstairs bathroom was very spacious. I enjoyed the shared breakfasts, exchanging travel tips and stories with the other guests, and everyone we encountered was very courteous.
We would definitely recommend the Roost to anyone travelling to or through West Asheville!
We had a wonderful stay! Great room, house, people, and breakfast. Even with an infant and a dog, they were super accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.
From the moment we walked in we felt right at home. The house was so cute and the location was just what we were looking for. We had an amazing breakfast both days and our dog Marleigh loved playing with all the other dogs at the house. It was perfect.

I have lived in beautiful Asheville, NC for several years. Here, alongside my wonderful husband Patrick and our contingent of urban farm animals, we are working to create an oasis in the heart of the city. After many travel adventures around the world, I am inspired to create a home that is both a haven for travelers and a sustainable (albeit tiny!) slice of land. We raise laying hens, muscovy ducks, rabbits, honeybees, and a plethora of vegetables and culinary herbs. In between, we love to get out and enjoy all that WNC has to offer -- amazing hiking, fantastic cycling, diverse breweries, and delicious food.
