My wife and I stayed here and had a great time! The space is very nice and Gerta is great. She gave us helpful information about shops, restaurants, etc. We had everything we needed!
Greta was friendly and efficient as she helped us with our late and last-minute check in. Our room was clean and cosy and quiet. Excellent proximity to the airport.
Gerta and her family are really nice people. Their house is awesome. It is big, clean and cozy with three floors. On top of that, you'll get to meet other guests from all over the world. The neighborhood is safe and peaceful, close to the ocean so you can take a walk on the beach. I totally enjoyed the stay, and will definitely choose to live here again the next time I visit Boston.
The room was just as described in a very attractive home close to the sea. We had a lot of baggage so maybe the room was a little small for us but it was fine overall. Gerta was very helpful in meeting us and apart from that we looked after ourselves. It's conveniently connected to the airport and downtown Boston but requires a bus connection. The walls are a little thin so you can overhear other guests which may be an issue for some. A good value stay in Boston.
Regarding the home:
I was at Gerta’s home for a couple of days. Unfortunately, I did not meet her during my stay but her husband was there with the kids. It showed me the room and provided some information. I had the room with stars. Very beautiful and lovely. You feel at home. The pictures reflects the house. Two different couples were staying in the house too. I could hear them talking during the night. I was not there that long since I had to go to Salem. So, I was in and out and it did not bother me. I slept well in the soft bed. I need the same bed for my place.
Regarding the transportation:
I took the public transportation as soon as I arrived. The airport bus 22 gives you a free ride until subway. I purchased a Charlie card with 5 rides for $13.25. I will suggest taking a day pass for $12. It is less expensive. Unfortunately, the transfer with the Bus 712 or 713 to Gerta’s home does not allow to use the Charlie card. So, I had to pay for an additional $1.60 in cash each way. Be prepared.
The bus 712 and 713 stops near her house at the crossroad and to go back, you will have to take the bus again near Dunkin Donut coffee. There is a T sign for the bus stop.
Again, each time, you will have to take the bus, you will have to pay for $1.60 and the bus driver does not make change. Also, you can pay for a special bus card or bus pass at Orient Height Station. I encourage you to travel during the week to her place since the bus takes longer to arrive on week ends. It is faster during the week.
When I left to go back to the airport, I decided to take the taxi since it was a Sunday and I have to wait for an hour before taking the bus. I called the number suggested by Gerta but the taxi driver charged me $16 for a ride to the airport. I called the company to know why it was not $6 and they said the ride to the airport is usually $16 but around Winthrop it is $6.
Very nice home, very nice people. I will definitely book her place again but will travel during the week and will take public transportation instead of taxi.
It was simply great staying at Gerta. The House is very nice, very clean and spacious, the neigbourhood great and calm, close to the ocean so one can have a walk or run in the morning. Great bed, great internet. Thanks for everything
It is a nice warm room in such a cold place :)
everything is cleaning and lovely.
Stairs might be too many for heavy luggage carriers.
