The Space

This is for one private room with two queen beds, a double and a twin bed with a private bath. I can add another bed if you need. If you need to rent more space I have another suite as well with a king bed and two twin beds called the Carmel Couples Retreat. The common areas are the huge gourmet kitchen,,the dining area and the great room plus the acre of riverfront property.I have an acre of property right on the Carmel River with over 5,500 acres of wilderness on the other side of the river. There is a large gourmet kitchen with a private bath with fossil French limestone vessel sink with bath/shower and access to a large great room with huge big screen tv with a Roku system for streaming movies. The price per night for one guests is $150/ night ht and $60/ night for each extra guest.. Plenty of parking. I will give you directions on how to get to all the best hikes and fun destinations on the Monterey Peninsula. I will make homemade breakfast muffins with the fresh fruit grown here on the property. I have blackberries super sweet blackberries and apples growing here. The property is fenced where you will be on the Carmel River with the backdrop of the Santa Lucia Mountain range where you may hike out on to park land all the way to Big Sur. You are only 11 miles to the white sandy beaches. You are minutes to fine dining, boutique shops and wine tasting where there is a trolley to take you to each winery. This area is like Napa without the traffic with plenty of wine tasting places in walking distance . The Monterey Peninsula Aquarium is close by as is Pebble Beach, Cannery Row, Spanish Bay and all the great places that Monterey Peninsula has to offer. I do reside on the property and I have three dogs of which two are service dogs. If you do not like dogs please do not reserve this place. Thank you.

Guest Access

You have access to the private suite, the private bath, gourmet kitchen, dining area and the great room as well as the acre of riverfront property plus thousands of acres of hiking trails on Garland Park to explore.

Interaction with Guests

I am here when you need me ie, tips on where to go what to see Internet password etc. Otherwise I play it by ear if you want me around. : )

The Neighborhood

Great neighborhood with three ball fields and a picnic area with Garland Park and is 1,000 of acres of trails to explore right out back. I am right in front of the Gardenirs

Getting around

Best to have a car or a rode bike to get to the coast. The restaurants and wineries are in walking distance.

Other Things to Note

Love to share all the great secrets of the Monterey Peninsula.

  • Anne was a wonderful hostess and managed the house to be shared by 2 parties well. She even baked us treats daily! The house is immaculate and she was very flexible with the accommodations. My team and I truly enjoyed our stay and the beautiful scenic views of the Carmel Valley.

  • My fiancée and I took a trip to Carmel Valley over Valentine's day weekend and had a wonderful time. Anne was a wonderful host! She made us delicious muffins for our arrival, gave us invaluable advice on which wineries to visit (and avoid!), and let us store our bicycles on her porch. Our room was cozy and comfortable, the living room and fireplace were wonderful after a long day of traveling, and she let us borrow a set of domino's to play. I would definitely stay with Anne and her pack of friendly dogs again.

  • Anne's home is quite conveniently located near Carmel and Big Sur. In addition to being right in front of a huge hiking reserve, this retreat is also close to several high quality and decent restaurants and wine tasting spots.

As a host, Anne and her husband made sure to make us feel comfortable and welcome for our brief stay. She baked us some delicious blueberry muffins and had fresh brewed coffee everyday before we woke up. At night she always had a fire burning in the cozy living room. She was also very generous with her time, funny stories, and sharing some secret hikes and gems in the area! Taco, the dog, is quite cute and friendly. Anne is a truly kind and generous person.

Thanks for the wonderful stay Anne! Also thanks for the plant, we have it growing in our home in Berkeley!

  • Anne's place in Carmel Valley is very nice.

The very spacious room has 2-double beds and a pair of twin beds - one above the other. The bathroom is clean and has towels and toiletries.

There is a beautiful fireplace at the entrance. It's quaint and looks antique. Anne's friend fired it up in the evening - it was very poretty and makes a great sitting area to sip some wine. The kitchen is huge and stocked with all kinds of interesting things. We used it for tea in the morning - but it would be a delight to cook there.

Anne was specially helpful with tips of little secret hikes in the area and some fantastic restaurant recommendations for brunch and dinner. She even gave us a little discount coupon for the Whale watching trip in Monterey!

Thank you Ann and see you again!

    Cheers, Anu

  • Anne was a wonderful host. She was able to accommodate all of us in one room, which was wonderful. The house is cozy and the kitchen was beautiful. We made breakfast in the morning and had a really good time in Big Sur. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are going to Carmel/Moneterey/Big Sur. The town of Carmel Valley is really cute as well. Anne recommended eating places that were delicious as well as the 17-mile road in Monterey which had spectacular views!

  • Anne (brian and chiko ) was a great host, made me feel at home from the moment we met. the accommodation was clean and cozy. the location is within walking distance of the village and is in a friendly and leafy area of the valley, surrounded by wooded trails. Really enjoyed my stay with Anne and her family.

  • Anne is one of the loveliest people you will encounter. She was exceptionally warm and personable in all of our interactions - both online and off. She has a true genuine heart and you will experience her exceptional hostess skills in all aspects of your stay here. From breakfast foods and snacks if you need them, to tips on what to check out in the area - as well as brochures, to fresh peaches from her yard, to a stunning landscape made for hiking and much more - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. You couldn't ask for a better location and a more wonderful host. I would definitely stay here again!

  • This is a great place to stay for visiting the lovely Carmel coastline! Anne was a very kind host and it was great to have someone local to point out the most interesting places to visit (including some secret ones!), and even booked us a table at a lovely restaurant in Pacific Grove. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, and the garden full of flowers and fruit. Anne sent me back to France with lots of seeds and pluot stones for my garden! PS cute dogs, too.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Anne´s river retreat very much. Anne is a very friendly host, who offered us fresh fruit and vegetables from her beautifull garden and advised us what to visit in Carmel and Monterey. The River retreat is very cozy and spacious, bright and sunny. The kitchen is very big and well equipped, the beds are good.
