About this listing
Secluded, dreamy, woodland setting with walking trails and a lovely botanical garden located in Oneonta just minutes from Hartwick and SUCO, Rose Cottage Retreat is a magical one bedroom house with skylights, a gourmet kitchen, and beautiful furnishings, ideal for 2 but can accommodate more.
Deeper into the forest garden there is a lovely frog pond surrounded by lush plants almost like a jungle.
The interior has wooden beams, skylights, wood and tile floors throughout. The living and dining area are furnished with beautiful and comfortable furniture, stained glass lamps and artwork. There is a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with marble counter-tops and a lovely view of the garden. The bedroom has an oak bedroom set with plenty of closet and drawer space. The back sun room looks
My only complaint about the Rose Cottage Retreat is that we weren't able to stay longer! Only spent 2 nights there, but could easily have spent many more sitting on the screened-in back porch and gazing out over the garden. While the setting is rustic, the cabin is anything but. Very nice and well-appointed kitchen, good-sized living and bedroom and really useful "bonus" room with a sleeper-sofa that doubles perfectly as a second bedroom. The grounds are very private and are surrounded in summer by beautiful gardens. Keep in mind that there is no TV (DVDs only) or Internet, but cell and data service is pretty decent. Trust me though...you won't miss them! Also, you're an easy 3-minute drive to downtown Oneonta, so you're close to everything that has to offer.
This is an absolutely gorgeous and welcoming home to stay in! We would have loved to stay longer/own the home ourselves! It has a beautiful kitchen with high ceilings, cozy living room, bedroom, another room with a couch/pullout bed, screened in porch, and bathroom with a walk-in shower. It was just the two of us but we had plenty of room to entertain some visitors. We took a hike on the trails across the street and enjoyed seeing deer up close and other wildlife. The property itself has a frog pond and gardens to explore.
Any and all amenities that you could think of are there (kitchen items, bathroom towels, extra toiletries, ironing board, washer & dryer, books, movies, games, etc.).
Colleen was so welcoming and patient with us considering we arrived later than anticipated. She gave us the grand tour and provided us with information for the area.
It is located right in the heart of Oneonta yet is very secluded and private. A 30-40 minute scenic drive to Delhi, Walton and Cooperstown.
We have no complaints and hope to return in the future!
Rose Cottage has the feel of a modern rustic retreat with a lush garden out the back door that draws one into nature. Yet, you are minutes from downtown and surrounding attractions. Colleen pays good attention to detail, which makes the home very comfortable. She is available for needs, but allows for privacy. It was the perfect haven for our exploration of the area.
As a first time user of Air BnB this set a pretty high bar. The accommodations are lovely, spacious, and comfortable. The kitchen and cookware were updated and made cooking for me and my guests very enjoyable. The main bed was very comfortable although then pullout couch was less so. All the little extras (like, a grill, dvd player with movies, enough towels for everyone) really made our stay so much easier than I was expecting. Brava ! Thank you so much.
The Rose Cottage is absolutely lovely! The setting is beautiful, as is the home itself - with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Colleen was a great host and even came by and dropped off a hairdryer for me to use. I would highly recommend a stay at the Rose Cottage.
This was a lovely cottage for our two nights in Oneonta. It was a private getaway that was also convenient to campus and town. We would happily stay here again.
Our weekend at Rose Cottage in Oneonta was a terrific experience. Colleen was an excellent host and met us at the cottage when we arrived, despite an ever-changing arrival time. The space is actually nicer than what is seen in the photos and the serenity of the property makes me sure I will contact Colleen about staying there again when I return to the Catskills.
About the Host, Colleen
I'm from the west coast originally but have been in beautiful NY for 25 years. I love this area with it's green rolling hills, forests, rivers and lakes. My interest in nature also extends to botanical gardens for their medicinal and food value as well as their beauty.
