Colleen's description of the cottage is absolutely on the money! It is wonderful getaway, a lovingly crafted household with a furnished kitchen and a relaxing, warm atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, hiking the nearby trail and visiting several of the breweries in nearby Cooperstown. Bonus points for cleanliness! Don't hesitate to lock this one down before it gets too chilly - that said, the place has a heater so it should be more than hospitable even in the winter months!
Staying in this cottage was a lovely retreat. The house is in a beautiful wooded setting with easy access to the town. It was clean and very comfortable. Our host, Colleen, provided all the information we needed prior to arriving, and made our visit to Oneonta a stress-free experience. We appreciated the list of suggested places to visit in the area that was provided by Colleen. We also enjoyed visiting the Cooperstown Beverage Trail.
The house and gardens were perfect! The cottage was spotless, newly renovated and nicely decorated. We loved just sitting on the screened in porch and enjoying the garden (and all the humming birds). Super private and also close to town. The kitchen was nice and new, and a pleasure to cook in. We enjoyed a trip to the nearby Ommegang Brewery. But mostly we just spent our time relaxing at the cottage. We were also pleased that there was a TV and DVD player (with a fun selection of dvds) since we are big movie buffs and love a cozy evening on the couch! It was exactly what we were hoping for on my husband's birthday!!
All communications with Colleen prior to our arrival were courteous and friendly. The cottage not only met our expectations but exceeded them in terms of cleanliness and space. The woodsy garden setting was lovely, quiet and peaceful. Although we were there for only one night and did not have an opportunity to make use of the fabulous kitchen we might consider doing so in the future. All in all, this was a great place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle.
I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was. Colleen made my wife and I feel welcome by providing all the basics and more. This house has a great kitchen and gorgeous garden and is only steps away from a long wooded path that leads to an open hilltop with a great view across the Catskills. It's a house that's so charming once you've stepped inside that it inspires you to make the most of every day, and we tried to. Every guest should hit the downtown farmer's market and make a few great meals here.
Rose Cottage is a quiet, beautiful retreat, but close to lots of things to do and see. The home is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Colleen was an attentive host and greeted us at the cottage. If you want a peaceful, quiet get away then you won't be disappointed at Rose Cottage.
As a first time "airbnb-er", I was a little hesistant at first but after staying here I have no qualms about using this site. Colleen's place is a hidden gem within another hidden gem (Oneonta). The house was perfect for a peaceful weekend getaway - well furnished and clean. The location is also ideal to visit Cooperstown which was only a short drive away (and the scenic route was gorgeous). If I need to visit this area again, I'd love to stay here for a second time.
I'm from the west coast originally but have been in beautiful NY for 25 years. I love this area with it's green rolling hills, forests, rivers and lakes. My interest in nature also extends to botanical gardens for their medicinal and food value as well as their beauty.
