Studio apartment with separate entrance by Woodhams Creek. Private deck. Peaceful setting near a beautiful trail through old-growth forest to hilltop with ocean view. 9 miles from San Gregorio Beach. Pet friendly!

The space
There are numerous hiking trails and several old-growth redwood groves nearby. Maps and guidebooks are provided. Less than an hour away is Año Nuevo State Park, home to a large colony of elephant seals. A little farther south is Elkhorn Slough — rent kayaks (or bring your own) and mingle with over a hundred sea otters! In addition, there are excellent beaches and tide pools, and picturesque towns like Half Moon Bay, Pescadero and Davenport (all 30 - 40 minutes away) that provide great dining options.

Where you’ll be

La Honda, California, United States

People mostly come here to get away from it all — hike, go to the beach (9 miles away), or just relax. If you need to go out, though, Applejacks Bar (https://www.mercurynews.com/2011/07/03/country-spirit-permeates-applejacks-in-la-honda/) is the only place in town. Ten minutes away is Alice’s Restaurant, with live music every Thursday evening. Ten minutes the other way gets you to the San Gregorio Store, a must-visit eclectic old-time general store, with great music Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The best restaurant in the area is the Mountain House. It’s about a half hour away, on Highway 35, but has wonderful food and is nestled among redwoods and Douglas firs.

During your stay

I’m always here when I have guests (except when at work), and am available to give advice, replenish supplies, or just hang out. Otherwise I give guests space to enjoy the surroundings, peace and quiet.
