  • I had a great stay at Jose and Ann's La Casita. Loved the cottage feel with modern furnishing. The French doors, sky light, high ceilings added such elegance to the experience. It was super convenient as well. 7 minutes to the convention center. Awesome! The Ethernet cable and MAC compatible extension was inspired. Super clean and all the furnishings you need to be in a wonderful home away from home. It was lovely to be graciously greeted by Ann during my visit. I felt well taken care of. I totally recommend this place!! Will be back myself as many times as I am in town. Thanks again Jose and Ann!

  • I spent 11 nights at La Casita in May. After a long trip, I walked in I was greeted by a note from Jose-Maria, a homemade banana bread baked by Anne, and a bottle of wine. Great start! The place is very spacious and comfortable and the garden outside was tranquil despite being downtown. It’s an easy walk to a variety of restaruants from cheap Asian catering to the university crowd to more sophisticated places – all within a 10 min walk. Parking was easy. On the nights when the driveway wasn’t available, Jose-Maria provided a street parking pass. There were always spaces available. There is easy access to 280 and 101. All in all, highly recommended.

  • This spot was pretty much perfect for our trip. As we were visiting our daughter on campus, the location was perfect. The apartment itself was really well situated, and it was clean & tidy and well stocked.

  • I arrived after a delayed flight. Jose was very accommodating throughout the process and I had no problem checking in at a different time (after informing him). A bottle of wine greeted me, though my schedule didn't allow time to enjoy it.

La Casita is well captured by the pictures. It's got high ceilings and skylights, which was nice. Some of the fixtures are a little older, but that never bothers me. I didn't try out the wifi, as I usually jump at the chance to use wired ethernet (I take reliability over convenience). Didn't use the kitchen but it seemed to have everything I'd need if I was cooking there. The bathroom worked well and the shower/hot water wasn't an issue.

I was in town on business and the walk to the convention center was actually quite pleasant in the mornings. I was able to explore some of the restaurants that serve the San Jose State campus and avoid the pricey hotel bills that accompany conferences. As an added bonus, I stopped at the taco place on the main drag on the way home and was able to grab a late night snack while heading back towards La Casita. I often went through campus at night as it was better lit than the side streets but overall I felt safe walking around both night and day.

  • At Jose-Maria's, we were greeted with a lovely card and bottle of wine. The cottage is spacious, clean and private, with a lovely garden, outdoor table and grill just outside. Clean sheets and towels, working kitchen, comfy bed, and great location for getting around San Jose. Jose-Maria and his partner were incredibly friendly and advised us on local beaches and restaurants. Next time I'm in San Jose, I hope to stay with them again. Would highly recommend to others.

  • Jose-Maria was a very welcoming host! Even though I had booked the place the same day, he was able to accommodate!
The environment within the cottage and the property itself is wonderful! I was able to relax in the backyard (with plenty of foliage!) and had a good sense of privacy when inside the cottage. The place itself is very clean, stocked with kitchen/bathroom supplies/equipment and most importantly: every appliance is fully functional. The bed is comfortable, the room has *PLENTY* of space, and is decorated very nicely. I did not have any special requests so I cannot comment much on that, but I am sure Jose-Maria would accommodate.

  • I stayed at the Villa Carlota while attending a conference at the convention center. The cottage was simple, clean, and very comfortable! And the walk to the convention center was a short (10 minutes) respite from the perpetual sitting of conference attendance.

    I definitely recommend it!

  • Our stay at Villa Carlota was fantastic. Jose Maria was incredibly accommodating to our needs and it was a pleasure to meet him and his wife. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and sits behind a beautiful array of fruit trees. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom and shower were excellent, and just as Jose Maria had explained, the hot water takes two minutes to heat up but after that works perfectly. The main house is a fascinating work of architecture, as are many of the houses on this block, which is conveniently located very close to a great and culturally rich part of town, South First Street, also known as SOFA. Thank you Jose Maria, we would definitely love to come back!
