Brian and Holly are excellent hosts and we had a great time in their place in Captain Cook! They are very welcoming and very well organized. The room, as the whole house, was nice and clean and the view from their terrace is just amazing. The bathroom for our room was, I assume, shared with another guest room. But since we were the only guests on the ground floor, we had it all to ourselves.
We took the breakfast option and Holly provided fresh and yummy breakfast each morning (day 1: fresh fruits, freshly baked quiche, toast; day 2: freshly baked blueberry muffins, yoghurt). And there's free coffee and tea in the morning as well.
You've got shops and restaurants in the area (a short drive) and there's even a farmer's market in town were you can buy fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods and more. The Kealakekua Bay is not far and is supposed to be a great snorkeling spot. Brian and Holly have some snorkeling gear and boogie boards that they offered to us for use.
All in all it's a great place to stay and Brian and Holly are very friendly and welcoming people that want you to have a great stay. And we certainly did. If we ever come to Captain Cook again, we'll make sure to stay at their place.
Brian and Holly were great hosts! We only stayed with them for one night, but it was our first night in Hawaii. It was a great stay with really nice people. The house has a really cool setup with awesome outdoor space. Would have been a great place to hang out if we had more time. We postponed our trip by four days due to Hurricane Iselle & Julio which Brian & Holly allowed with no questions asked. Also, since our new flight arrived late (10pm), we didn't get to their place until close to midnight which was no problem at all. They left the light on for us and it was really easy access from the lanai. All in all, a great first night on the Big Island...and Holly's coconut bread with fresh bananas was a great way to wake up! Thanks and hope to see you both again in the future!
My husband and I stayed there for the last few days of our Hawaiian Honeymoon. The place is great, very well located and in a beautifull property. We had a private bathroom and breakfast included which was different everyday and so so good!!!! Holly and Brian are great hosts, we had wonderfull talks and I feel as if Holly were my friend. I loved talking about everything. We stayed during hurricane Iselle and let me tell you: if you are going to live through a hurricane there is no better place: they made us feel comfortable and informed throughout the "adventure". We enjoyed the whole place and the guests outside kitchen as we do not like to have to eat out every day and spend a lot of money. renting a car is a must, but not just in this property: if you are going to the Big Island you HAVE to rent a car to get everywhere. The region is very charming (on the mountains, whith tropical fruits and coffee plantations) and beaches (we only went to Two Step to snorkel: best snorkeling in Hawaii!). Thanks Holly and Brian for your tips, your hospitality and company during the storm. We love you and hope to return some day (for our anniversary, maybe!)
Convenient location. Rooms are comfortable and bathroom is clean. Brian and Holly are super easy to talk to and very welcoming. Holly served a coconut oatmeal coffee cake one morning and a veggie frittata for the next, both were delicious. They also served papayas and mangos grown from their backyard. Only think i wish was that they serve more fruits at breakfast! Great place to stay for your big island visit.
We had a wunderful time at Ryan and Holy`s house. The two of them are to perfect hosts, very helpful and they always made sure we have everything we need. Our room was very cozy and clean. There is a big outside area (incl. outdoor kitchen, tv) to use, which we found great. The place is also good located and close to some stunning beaches.
