About This Listing
I used to host c0uch surfing a lot and then I heard about this website through Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show. So my roommates and I told ourselves, why not do the same thing but make a little money on the side? =)
PLEASE NOTE: We currently have two rooms available and it is $150 for two bedrooms. $75 for one bedroom.
We're located in the west side of downtown which is great location for sight-seeing, outdoor adventures, and transportation. You can save some money on the transportation since we are walking distance away from the Statue of Liberty ferry, Wall st, Battery Park, 9/11 memorial, and the new World Trade Center. Parking around here is not too bad, but I definitely recommend airbnber's to use the subway since we're only about a 7 minute walk from a couple of subway stations!
The room is simple and cozy. Queen size bed, TV/computer, drawers, and speakers if you would like to play music, and an AMAZING view. I often go to work late because I am busy enjoying what's out the window. (You would be doing me a favor if you stay here actually) If you are scared of heights, you might be a little nervous at first, but I guarantee you that you will be back and get used to it (or I'll give your money back). We only ask that you do not smoke inside the apartment. Snoring is fine, but you have to take a shower everyday.
Interaction with Guests
I have two roommates, a couple. Joel and I graduated from Cornell University 3 years ago. He is an easy going guy who's from Arizona. My other roommate, Helen, is from China and is current working in Wall St. area. We all love to have a good time and if we have time, we would love hang out with our guest! If you want your own space, we can provide that too.
Hm, What else? Oh, DRINKS! Battery park is minutes away by subway from west village which has MANY of my favorite bars and restaurants. I can definitely recommend some places to you. I also drive to West Village often to hang out with my close friends and you are always welcome to join! We also have a few bars/restaurants around here which are more classy and very suitable for a calmer nights out.
MTA subway: 1, 4, 5, and R
MTA bus: M20
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! I hope I'll get to meet and host you soon! =)
Spacious and clean room with great view of the Hudson River (unobstructed and a rarity in nyc). Comfy large bed with pillows comforter and towels. There is an AC or heat pump in the room. A very safe and secure location, close to subway, convenient stores and food places like Shake Shack. Lovely flat mates, I like interaction with locals while traveling and staying at a shared airbnb provides that. The apartment is just 5 minutes walk away from the 9/11 memorial and about 10 mins away from the 1, N and R trains. The building is very secure with a 24 hour door man. Laundry and dryer machines are available for use on the 2nd floor and the use of credit card for payment at the machine - byo suds. There is a citi bike share just outside the apartment where you can get a bike and cycle along the water front towards battery park and the wharf area where you board a cruise to see the Statue of Liberty. Would definitely recommend to anyone contemplating to stay. A tranquil place to be and wake up to after all the crazy action in busy NYC.
I didn't meet Johnny on this trip, but he sent very thoughtful living tips to me beforehand, and they were very helpful, many thanks to that. Also, his 2 roommates are very easygoing, it was pleasant to meet them. Of course, the view over the Hudson River was amazing, and the location of the apt was great too, very close to the main roads and metro stations. Just one thing, sleeping at night can be a little bit cold, you really need to use the heater at least for 30 mins before going to bed.
This is a great apartment! The view is amazing, and it takes 5 min to walk down to 9/11 memorial and the new World Trade Center. The subway is a 5-10 min walk away and the lines can take you directly to Times Square. We didn't get to meet Johnny at our visit, but his two roommates were nice to us and ready to help with our questions. The only bad thing we can say about the stay was that the room and the bathroom (that is shared with Johnnys roommates) was not that clean, so if you're allergic to dust or something like that, you might want to ask for an extra cleaning before you go. Besides that, very nice, and great with the flexible check-in/out!
Very nice room and the view is stunning ! Johnny's roommates were friendly and quiet. The apartment is super close to the 9/11 Memorial and subway station. Johnny's apartment is the perfect place to saty for a weekend trip. I can highly recommend this apartment! Thank you again.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet Johnny but his room mates are very nice and helpful with directions. The place is perfect! The view is gorgeous! The apartment is clean and it's literally walking distance to everything (the park, the trains, grocery store, restaurants, etc) I would definitely recommend this apartment and would come back on any future visits.
About the Host, Johnny
Hey, I'm Johnny and I'm a New Yorker who loves traveling and trying new things. I lived in Hong Kong, NYC, Los Angeles, Spain, and South Africa. Meeting new people along the way and being spontaneous is my key to a successful trip. Some sports I like are volleyball, snowboarding, white water kayaking, jet skiing ... and really anything outdoors. I especially enjoy people who live life by natural impulses. Meet you soon!
