About This Listing
3.3 Km., from the town centre at the gateway to the scenic Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula & with Killarney National Park on the doorstep.
A car is advisable however as it's rural with no streetlights or footpaths & uphill all the way from the town.
My 2 bedroomed cottage is in a great location for guests who want to immerse themselves in Killarney with all it's beauty. The National Parks, Golf & Fishing are all within a stones throw.
The room on offer to guests is a twin bedroom & while the room is not en-suite there is a private bathroom downstairs solely for guests use, this bathroom has a bath incorporating a shower so guests have the choice of having either a bath, a shower or both.
Guests may also use the sitting-room to watch tv but I would ask guests to be mindful of their use of this room as this is the space I use for meeting/entertaining family and friends on the occasion that I have personal visitors. It is my home so we have to accommodate each other as best as possible.
Guests also have access to the patio & garden weather permitting.
I also welcome solo travellers like myself who may be interested in the room, just send an enquiry and I can then reply with a special offer.
A continental breakfast is provided between the hours of 7.00 until 9.30 after which time it's self-service (I have classes to attend some mornings) which includes:-
Tea/Coffee or Herbal Teas
Choice of muesli, weetabix or porridge
Toast with jam/marmalade
Tea/Coffee available whenever you wish.
If guests have any special dietary requirements please let me know beforehand.
However, I must advise that the kitchen is off limits for cooking your own personal food.
Interaction with Guests
Guests will be sharing my home with me & my dog Putu (she's almost 2 years old), a cross between a Yorkie & Bichon & extremely friendly.
I interact with guests as much or as little as they want it's up to the guest really, but I love to meet new people and I'm always up for a chat, however, if it's privacy you want please bear in mind that it's a small cottage and the only privacy you'll find will be in your own bedroom, unless I'm out or in my own bedroom it's hard to avoid each other :)
I'm on hand if needs be & I will provide any information needed with regards to things to do & see, of which there are plenty.
While check-in is not until 6pm if guests need to check in earlier just let me know in advance and it can be arranged no problem.
The area is rural even though it's close to the town centre. The cottage is close to the road, however, traffic is minimal as it's a country road and it's surrounded on the other 3 sides by a farm.
The famous Aghadoe Viewing Point is only 3mins., by car or a short walk if willing to risk walking on narrow country roads.
There is no public transport, most visitors hire cars for convenience which I highly recommend as it's all uphill from the town centre and the last .5 km., can be dangerous as no footpath, narrow country road with steep hill and no street lighting.
There are tourist shuttle buses which operate from town to the various tourist attractions around the town and the parks.
Bicycles can be rented in town or close to Muckross National Park.
There are plenty of tour operators to visit the scenic spots + there are public buses between towns.
Kerry airport is 9 km., from the house.
No loud behaviour or drunkenness....
All social media interaction to be carried out in guests own bedroom as one of my pet hates is someone chatting with me while on social media sites at the same time
WOW! Olive and her place are wonderful! It was a great experience- the only problem was that I couldn't stay longer. When we arrived after a long and frustrating drive across the country, she had tea ready to make for us, and in the morning, she provided a nice array of breakfast options. She also helped us find dining in a town where kitchens are closed by 8 or 9 (not what many Americans are used to), going above and beyond her duty as a host. The bedroom is clean and spacious; however the bathroom is downstairs, so that can be difficult for people with knee problems or a lot of luggage. It's very comfortable, though. And if you're a animal person (like I am), her dog will brighten up your day! I'd recommend Olive and her home to anyone- she's such a cool person with a cool place.
Olive was an amazing host! Her house was as described, very cozy and comfortable. Olive gave us very good suggestions for things to do in the area. We even went for a walk in the park with her and Putu.
Olive was a great host and highly recommend her home.
We had a delightful stay with Olive and her cute dog, Putu! A beautiful home with comfortable beds and a friendly host made our experience very pleasant. It was also a good base from which to explore the ring of Kerry, killarney natl park, and the town itself.
Olive was the best host we could imagine. She even picked us up with her car to get to her place ;-) It was a lot fun talking to her (e.g. about traveling she did) and playing with her cute dog (Pluto).
The house was so lovely decorated and cosy - we would have liked to stay there for another few days!
Breakfast was perfect (including fresh mixed smoothies).
We would absolutely recommend this place for staying. :-)
Thanks Olive for having us staying in your place - we appreciated.
P.S.: Garinish Island was an awesome tip.
The reservation was canceled 89 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We want to thank Olive again for her warm welcome. Her home is very comfortable and cosy. She gave us good advice about the places to go to around Killarney like restaurants, pubs, bike-renters :)
We felt immediately at home in Olive's cosy cottage. Accommodation is both comfortable and interestingly decorated courtesy of Olive's time in Bali. Great breakfast and great company. We really enjoyed our short stay.
