Just 1 minute's drive from town centre and a 15-minute drive from Kerry Airport at the gateway to the scenic Ring of Kerry and Dingle. Killarney National Park is 20 minutes away on foot. The famous Aghadoe viewing point is a short walk away.
My 2 bedroomed cottage is in a great location for guests who want to immerse themselves in Killarney with all it's beauty. The National Parks, Golf & Fishing all within a stones throw.
The room on offer to guests is a twin bedroom with wi-fi throughout & while the room is not en-suite there is a private bathroom downstairs solely for guests use, this bathroom has a bath incorporating a shower so guests have the choice of having either a bath, a shower or both.
Guests may also access the sitting-room to watch tv but I would ask guests to be mindful of using this room in the evening as this is a space I use for meeting/entertaining family and friends on the occasion that I have personal visitors. It is my home so we have to accommodate each other.
Guests also have access to the patio & garden weather permitting.
I also welcome solo travellers like myself who may be interested in the room, just send an enquiry and I can then reply with a special offer.
A continental breakfast is provided which includes:-
Tea/Coffee or Herbal Teas
Choice of Weetabix, muesli or porridge
Toast with jam/marmalade
Tea/Coffee available whenever you wish. However, I must advise that the kitchen is off limits for cooking your own personal food.
Interaction with Guests
Guests will be sharing my home with me & my dog Putu (she's almost 2 years old), a cross between a Yorkie & Bichon & extremely friendly.
I interact with guests as much or as little as they want it's up to the guest really, but I love to meet new people and I'm always up for a chat, however, if it's privacy you want please bear in mind that it's a small cottage and the only privacy you'll find will be in your own bedroom, unless I'm out or in my own bedroom it's hard to avoid each other :)
I'm on hand if needs be & I will provide any information needed with regards to things to do & see, of which there are plenty.
The area is rural even though it's close to the town centre, the cottage is close to the road, however, traffic is minimal as it's a country road and it's surrounded on the other 3 sides by a farm.
The famous Aghadoe Viewing Point is only 5mins., by car or a short walk if willing to risk walking on narrow country roads.
There is no public transport, most visitors hire cars for convenience which I recommend as the 1st klm., from my house to the main road can be dangerous as no footpath, narrow country road with steep hill and badly surfaced with no lighting at night.
There are tourist shuttle buses which operate from town to the various tourist attractions around the town and the parks.
Bicycles can be rented in town or close to Muckross National Park.
There are plenty of tour operators to visit the scenic spots + there are public buses between towns.
Kerry airport is 9 klms., from the house.
Other Things to Note
For people viewing my listing they may be wondering why I only listed the room for the Spring season last year, this was due to the fact that I had family commitments for the remainder of the year and was unable to be here all the time so felt it was better to deactivate my listing for that period rather than having to cancel bookings as this is something I don't like to do.
No loud behaviour or drunkenness....
We had a delightful stay with Olive and her cute dog, Putu! A beautiful home with comfortable beds and a friendly host made our experience very pleasant. It was also a good base from which to explore the ring of Kerry, killarney natl park, and the town itself.
Olive was the best host we could imagine. She even picked us up with her car to get to her place ;-) It was a lot fun talking to her (e.g. about traveling she did) and playing with her cute dog (Pluto).
The house was so lovely decorated and cosy - we would have liked to stay there for another few days!
Breakfast was perfect (including fresh mixed smoothies).
We would absolutely recommend this place for staying. :-)
Thanks Olive for having us staying in your place - we appreciated.
P.S.: Garinish Island was an awesome tip.
The reservation was canceled 89 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We want to thank Olive again for her warm welcome. Her home is very comfortable and cosy. She gave us good advice about the places to go to around Killarney like restaurants, pubs, bike-renters :)
We felt immediately at home in Olive's cosy cottage. Accommodation is both comfortable and interestingly decorated courtesy of Olive's time in Bali. Great breakfast and great company. We really enjoyed our short stay.
A great host, a great house, a lovely dog! All was perfect! Olive is a nice person, funny, patient. The bedroom is very comfortable and lovely decorated. The breakfast is perfect too ! It is the best place we have ever been during our 10days trip in Ireland. Thanks again
Wow Laura what a wonderful review merci. It was an absolute pleasure hosting you & your Mum, it was more like fun than work, I totally enjoyed your stay & hope to see you again one day. I hope going back to work wasn't too painful & that your Mum got a good sleep on Monday before her night shift, regards from me. Merci Encore
The location and accommodations are perfect for someone wanting to get in and out of Killarney and the Ring of Kerry etc. The house is charming and the "guest room" is comfortable. Olive is a gracious host and very knowledgeable about the area. We were made to feel welcome and I would have no reservations recommending this to other AirBNB travelers.
