We loved this little cabin so much. It was tiny, and un-fussy, but had everything we needed - nice bed, built in storage for our things, essential kitchen items, a sweet outdoor sitting area. There was an outdoor shower and a little shared bathroom in a shed located maybe 100 feet away. This was a tiny house - which we'd heard about but never stayed in, and made us want to simplify and live in such close proximity to the outdoors.
Laura was a low key and pleasant host, we met her only on the last morning.
It was great to have a clean, simple, inexpensive (and appropriately priced) place to stay for a few days on the north tip of the Big Island. We loved the town of Hawi, which has some nice little places to eat, a good coffee shop, a few galleries, and a grocery store, and which was maybe a mile if that from the house.
This little cabin is a really special place. It has all that you need to live at a really reasonable price and the setting is extremely peaceful. The shower (situated off the back of the cabin) was hot (I take long showers). The bathroom a short walk away was clean and had a real toilet and sink. The cabin itself is a fantastic use of space and offered lots of drawers and storage and electricity. The surroundings are really dreamy and soothing and staying here is a great way to relax. It was my home base for exploring North and South Kohala, Waimea, and Waipio Valley.
I also booked a craniosacral massage with Laura, which I would highly recommend. If you are unfamiliar with that type of massage therapy, it is extremely gentle and deeply relaxing and works to unblock the body and soothe the nervous system. I am also a massage therapist and have prior experience with c.s. work. Laura is really gifted with this technique and not every massage therapist can do this. It takes special training. Her rates were really reasonable and I would encourage anyone who is curious about craniosacral therapy or who needs to unwind or begin to mend themselves, to ask about booking a session with her. My whole experience here left me feeling recharged.
We had a great time staying two nights in this cabin. The cabin is set in a beautiful, quiet grove of young trees in a peaceful neighborhood. Everything is very efficiently and comfortably arranged, and we enjoyed the extra touches- like the delicious toffee and fresh flowers that decorated the space.
Laura's cabin is very peaceful. I loved the experience of living half outside in the forest with the birds and half inside a very efficiently designed compact little cabin. She attended to all the details and allowed us lots of privacy. I hope to be back in that hammock with a warm wind blowing soon!
We loved Laura's little cabin! It was actually our favorite of the three places we stayed during our honeymoon. Despite its smallness, it had everything we possibly could have needed: a very functional kitchen with two stove burners, a full sized sink, and plenty of cookware (including a cast-iron skillet, which was a nice touch!). There was ample storage space for our luggage - shelves, a small hanging closet, and more drawers than we could use! The bed was very comfortable and had a cozy loft-like feel because of being elevated at about chest-level. We wiled away many hours reading or napping in the hammock hung right outside the front door, too!
The location was superb! We were surrounded by thick grass and tall trees, and the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves was very soothing. The place had a feel of remoteness and privacy - almost like we were the only people there in this beautiful forest - yet it was only a 15 minute walk into Hawi. Hawi, incidentally, was an incredibly charming little town. We felt like locals there within our mere three-day stay, because we saw so many of the same people. For example, the barista in the local coffee shop (who also worked at the kava shop at night) recognized us like we were old friends when we stopped by for drinks each day.
We hope we get a chance to stay here again some day!
Loved this cabin! Very cozy, very authentic-feeling option for staying on the big island, really out in the woods with an outdoor shower and all the night noises (but still close enough to town for any needs). We loved the kitchen, though we didn't stay long enough to put it to good use. Would definitely stay again, recommend to all. It was a great experience.
I LOVE this cabin. Laura was gracious and really a lovely person all around. And I really enjoyed the cabin. With a full kitchen and bedroom rolled into one compact package, along with an outdoor shower (with lots of hot water!), I was wishing I could live there full time I leave my home behind. I highly support renting from Laura.
Laura's cabin is very nice, amazingly designed, beautiful and convenient.
Located at the north point of Big island, we enjoyed the area. many art galleries and non-crowded places.
