Dinuk was kind enough to arrange for a driver to pick us up at the train station - the drive is about 15-20 minutes up the winding road in the Amiya hills and the setting is truly beautiful. The staff were very sweet and accommodating. We stayed in the new villa which had a lofted upper area with a small balcony with a great view over Kandy. The bed was very comfortable as was the villa - (although it would be great to have a couple of chairs outside to enjoy the view and be able to dine in the room). Highly recommended to stay in this quiet haven in the mountains.

This wonderful guest house in the lush hills above Kandy was a great place to stay. Our private veranda looked out to jungly forest and at night there were the lovely sounds of insects and in the morning it was the birds. Very clean. There are no close by restaurants, but the house cook was excellent, esp. his version of Sri Lankan curry. Owner and her son were friendly helpful

Villa Shenandoah was my favorite place that I stayed in all of Sri Lanka! Shamalie, Dinuk and all their staff were wonderful and so welcoming. I stayed in the guest house which has the most peaceful and amazing view of the surrounding hills. It was a joy to wake up to and have that view while having breakfast! Their dinner menu was very good as well, a wonderful way to end a day of exploring Kandy and the surrounding sites. Truly an amazing experience in one of the most absolutely beautiful areas of the island. I look forward to my return... hopefully someday very soon!

Beautiful location, wonderful staff and lovely breakfast every morning. The nicest place I've stayed in whilst in Sri Lanka, though a little expensive. So best for a treat for a few nights!

Villa Shenandoah isn't located close to the centre of Kandy but it's in a scenic location in the hills with a great view at the front of the villa - which is a lovely place to have breakfast, a drink or relax. The staff are friendly and were accommodating with our request to cook us a "curry and rice" dinner a matter of hours after arriving. Although there is a separate sitting room, the villa overall is relatively small compared to other villas we stayed at in Sri Lanka and the furnishings and bathroom is quite basic. None the less it's good value for what it offered - especially by Kandy standards and during the Esala Perahera period.

Dinuk and his mum were both helpful and welcoming hosts. Their staff were also very friendly and even offered to prepare special meals for our two year old son. We stayed in a Deluxe Room in the house for one night (Dinuk very quickly arranged this room after I'd made a mistake with our booking dates) and we stayed in the larger Villa for the rest of our stay. Both rooms were very comfortable and cool. The Deluxe Room was cool despite the lack there being no air conditioner. The larger Villa was very clean and very spacious with a nice warm shower and plenty of room for a two year old to play. The food was fantastic. Both Sri Lankan and Western foods were delicious. We were also able to enjoy most of our meals on our own private porch overlooking the Kandy hillside.

Dinuk and his staff were most welcoming. We stayed only for one night but it was a nice experience. The villa had a birds eye view of Kandy as it is up on a height and we had a beautiful breakfast just outside our bedroom. Overall, I would recommend Villa Shenandoah to anyone. It is very accessible from Kandy city.

Response from Villa:
Dear Shane, Thank you so much for your review and i will look into your private message regarding the driver accommodation as its the only place close the hotel. We are building new rooms for the drivers and guides soon at our hotel. Thank you so much for letting us know. We really hope to see you both again at Villa Shenandoah in near future.
