About This Listing
I m offering an old stylish, very bright and freshly renovated and refurnished studio apartment in the trendy Neukölln next to a lots of art galleries, bars, cafes, restaurants, flea markets and the famous Maybachufer-Market (bio and oriental). All kind of markets are just around the corner. If you want to take a look into the deep Neukölln, here you are in the right place! The jansastrasse is located in a very special place and somehow represents the soul of neukölln: on one side the arabic Sonnenalle, which is mostly lived by day and on the other side the Weserstrasse, which is the best nightlife way of berlin right now.
The apartment is a typical "Berliner Altbau", 36 square meter, living room area with double bed and sofa that turn into beds and open kitchen. All the utilities, including kitchen and bathroom, are brand new. In the kitchen there is a new fridge and a stove.
In the flat there is a unique artwork murales on the wall made by a famous cuban (but in berlin based) artist.
Just few rules:
1) Respect the neighbors. Since you are living in a building with normal flats and people who are permanently living here you must respect the neighbors. You are NOT ALLOWED to listen loud music/tv or to do party inside the flat. Especially before 8 am and after 9pm you must avoid any noise that can be disturb other people.
2) Use of Internet. You are not allowed to download any program or file that is not legal. Police's german downloading rules are quite strictly and if something illegal has been downloaded, they can catch you and let pay fees (around 2000 €).
3) Smoking in the flat is not allowed.
Nice location, clean, very quiet apartment, a bit light on household items such as soap and toilet paper. Shower drain clogged, but overall a plesant experience.
Super location, Super space, Quiet and easy. All contact with Mario was via email and worked out well. Thoroughly recommend!
The flat was generally as described--small, very quiet, well located for restaurants, clubs and bars in Neukoelln, and there was evidence of renovations, including new sinks and stove. However, the bathroom needs a lot more work--broken ceramic tiles on the shower, mold and mildew, and the shower did not drain well. No washcloths were provided, and the towels were old, smelly and terribly stiff and scratchy. No instructions were provided for where to take accumulated kitchen trash, so the small trash bin quickly over-filled. Communication is not Mario's forte. Although we finally managed to make arrangements via e-mail, no one was at the flat to meet us as promised. That required additional telephone calling to track down someone with keys, while we stood in front of the building with suitcases in near-freezing weather. In short, as a college student's crash pad, this place would probably be fine; however, anyone else is likely to be disappointed. The previous experiences I have had with airbnb flats have all been far better than this one. Anyone looking for a recommendation in Berlin, should probably keep looking.
Dear Cal, I'm really sorry if you had this experience with my flat. Nevertheless no sure where did you see mold and broken ceramic in the bathroom?
To be honest I'm quite surprised about your feedback and about you behaviour in general. You are talking about my "bad communication" but I never received a call or a message or a mail about your complaints during your stay. And you stayed in my flat for 9 days.
How could I help you if I don't know your issues? If I don't hear anything by you during your stay, I assume that everything is going well. Just to make you an exemple: everyone of my 200 other guest who slept in this flat and didn't write / call me did a fantastic experience in my flat, as their feedback states. So really I don't understand why you didn't contact me simply to ask new towells or washcloths. Regarding your peculiar complain "where to take accumulated kitchen trash", I cannot believe that you needed an explanation in order to see the 10 trash-containers in the garden, placed directly the entry of the stairs. Once again, you couldn't see them? Why just didn't ask me about? Airbnb is just about communication ; )
Sometimes I'm really perplexed how people like you (with 0 feedback) use the website airbnb, thinking to be in an hotel with reception and above all avoiding any form of communication in case of problems and last but not least complaining with the host about bad communication...welcome incoherence.
Everything went smoothly and I really liked the neighborhood (colorful/diverse) as much as I enjoyed the flat (cute/quiet).
I will be back.
Mario was a very good host. Despite some unavoidable problems he made sure that we were looked after for the duration of our stay. The flat is very nice - simple but perfect for a weekend away! And the area around the flat is very cool - lots of great cafes and restaurants. Would happily recommend Mario and the flat to anyone!
