About This Listing
Welcome to my little slice of Nicaragua. I've been here 20 years and I hope you love it as much as I do. You will notice my staff is all Nicas and they don't speak much English. but the real beauty of Nicaragua is her people. We use (website hidden) translate
A small one bedroom home back under the trees. It is a short walk to the market, internet cafe and restaurants of Playa Gigante and an even shorter walk to the most beautiful beach in Nicaragua , Playa Amarillo. The house has a queens sized bed, a large bathroom and a full sized well equipped Kitchen.
There is a Yoga Platform just across the way and the is surfing sailing fishing and beach walking just a short walk away.
Cows, horses and sometime a group of Howler Monkeys wander the property. It's rural real Nicaragua.
We can arrange a ride in from the airport or from almost anywhere in Nicaragua for a very affordable price
There are surf spots for beginners all the way to experienced surfers wanting a perfect barrel shot to hang on their wall
There is always someone here to help with directions, rent a surfboard, or a motorcycle.
Nicaraguan's are the major natural resource of this overlooked country. You'll find them warm and welcoming. The water is amazing and the weather very accommodating for almost any activity you could want to do
Playa Gigante is a small Nicaraguan fishing village just now starting to be able to provide restaurants, internet and stores visitors need. I have lived in the community over eight years and have been a part of the growing up of the town.
Taxis are a great deal. Once your here everything is in walking distance. We do offer Suzuki AX 100's for rent.
The Golden Rule
The casita was just as the pics showed. Set only a short walk to town. The home had all the kitchen needs to cook and was very clean.
We stumbled upon Dale's spot accidentally but now I couldn't imagine any better place to call home for 2 weeks. Fully equipped with everything we needed, a short walk to town and an even shorter walk to beautiful beaches. I would have no doubt in my mind recommending La Casita to anyone looking to experience a sweet little slice of Nicaragua.
Other than a little bit of a heat wave (it's HOT in April!), Dale's place was amazing. It's perfectly sized for two people, and the kitchen is outfitted for cooking practically anything. We enjoyed some of the wildlife, and the short walks to either of the beaches. Food + beer is cheap in El Gigante, too.
The reviews on here are accurate, but we have a few notable experiences that might be helpful to know about. First, Dale organized our cab from the Managua airport, which cost $80 + tip. We stopped in Rivas to get the bulk of our groceries as the stores in town are much more limited in selection. A couple of people drive around town selling produce and meat twice a day, just listen for the megaphone.
We were there for Semana Santa (Easter week) so our week was a bit different than others. Luckily, la casita is tucked away from town, a five minute walk, so you can either partake in the festivities or keep your distance.
There's lots of "wildlife" roaming the property, the howler monkeys are awesome! Every other day the house would get cleaned by the amazing staff, who were always friendly and attentive. The casita has the basic necessities to cook and store food.
Dale's compound is where you'll get all the info you need from the staff or fellow travelers. The icing on the cake for us was Beth, a fellow guest, who filled us in on everything we needed to know. Thank you Beth!
We had a great stay and got to experience Semana Santa on our terms and find some fun surf!
This house is located about a five minute walk to the beach. The kitchen is seperate from the bedroom so you need to walk out to the patio to get to and from rooms.
Balcony furniture is not as depicted in photos, hammock is nice but only other seating option is faux leather sofa (not the comfiest on a hot day!)
Really enjoyed being in this local part of town with lots of visits from chickens, pigs and horses.
Overall a fine place to stay for a few days.
La Casita was wonderful! It was in a quiet location and not too far from the beach. There is a little store close by if you need to buy small things as well. He gave us water in our kitchen. Kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils etc. i would recommend this little house to anyone looking for a quiet beach holiday. The only downfall, which cant be avoided anywhere is the howler monkeys waking us up in the morning with their growls, but we got to see monkeys!!
Everything went as expected. Dale and Veronica did an awesome job to help us out with every question/problem we had. Casita under the trees = perfect quiet getaway for 2. Clean, equipped. No fuss. Just far away enough to feel the local vibe. Would go again!

About the Host, Dale
I left my home in San Diego California to go live in a shack on the North Shore of Oahu. I caught the surf bug early and have spent many years exploring the coastline from San Francisco to the Colombian border. Looking for good waves, nice people and prefect weather. Playa Gigante is where I stopped looking and started building. I believe Playa Gigante is one of the most magic spots on this coast and I have build several small comfortable house to stay in. I hope you will also find the magic that I enjoy here in Playa Gigante.
