Hello! My 11-year old son Jan, my friend Francesca (28) and me (40) offer a cozy and tiny single room in our flat. We have a bathroom, kitchen, 2 living-rooms, balcony…all welcome to use.
The flat: It’s a typical Art Nouveau building which is more than 100 years old and still adorable. The front and back side of the building face the street and the famous Plaza del Sol.
We enjoy almost always sunny days during the morning and also afternoons. The building is spacious and bright; it has 2 living-rooms, 4 bedrooms, 1 lumber room, kitchen (fully equipped) , bathroom, a gallery and 2 balconies.
The bathroom is small with a window opening onto the courtyard, typical for these kind of buildings. The gallery has a few windows through which the light comes in and brightens the room making it luminous. The ceiling of the building is high and the floor is made of antique ceramic.
We have a glass-ceramic-stove, an oven, a fridge, an iron, a sofa-bed, a TV, telephone , a PlayStation… the normal stuff of home
The offered room is inside (no window), cozy and cheap, ideal for travelers who need only to sleep and store their belongings. It is equipped with 1 single bed, wardrobe, bedside table, hangers, towels and linens. Though there’s no window to outer side, the room is ventilated.
The two living-rooms are each in one side of the flat (two sides) , this means that they’re divided and like this you can enjoy a private space to spend time in.
In this house you will find an open-minded atmosphere, clean and without stress;)
During your visit in Barcelona you’ll discover numerous activities here in Gràcia, our district, which is pretty cosmopolitan, amusing and culturally active. However, Francesca and I can recommend you places to go and things to do.
The neighborhood is pretty amusing as I said and calm at the same time; you cand find many shops, restaurants, bars and pubs.
We hope to meet you soon!
Olga, Jan y Franchesca.
The district of Gràcia:
The neighbourhood of Gràcia is just one stop up from the top of Passeig de Gràcia but it feels like a whole different world. Gràcia was an independent town until the late 19th century and even now the community is small and tight. The people are exceedingly proud of their roots, they don't say they come from Barcelona, they say Gràcia.
The area is popular with artists and a generally bohemian crowd, it also has a high ethnic population and the highest concentration of foreign restaurants in Barcelona. Plaça de Sol is the most renowned area of the neighbourhood, it's lined with terrace cafes and at night this is where the people convene to drink and be merry. However despite the trendy nature of Gràcia it is also a very traditional barrio with a large elderly population which makes for an amusing and odd mix - and very entertaining people-watching!
Gracia is authentic Barelonian spot which puts you very close to the culture, streets are very active till late night with lots of people socialising and drinking, so it is a different experience. Olga's apartment itself is old authentic one which adds to the experience and she is nice person and you wouldn't feel her around most of the time. On other hand, my room's door didn't have a handle and wasn't able to close it and had to use my bag to close it because of the strong wind current. I was facing problems with shower in the morning or late night and Olga didn't manage to help and said it is probably a low water pressure. It was a very annoying problem.
Olga is a very sweet and flexible host who made sure I had a great time at her place. The apartment is in a really great and safe location, right next to plaza del sol which is full with people almost every night, it's a great spot to meet locals. The apartment is not as shiny as on the photos, but a decent place for the price. The walls are thin so the apt can get noisy, however it is very quiet between midnight and 8 am. Cat lovers will love that the apartment has a very friendly cat around.
Olga is very pleasant, and the location is great. The only thing is that it's pretty noisy, mind you it's not an expensive place to stay.
Olga's apartment is right in the heart of the action of Gracia! The location is great and feels really local. It can get noisy - light sleepers are warned - but I didn't mind much. Good base to sleep and explore.
Olga's place is great! Nothing fancy, but well worth the money. Great area in Gracia.
Olga's flat is just perfect for a little stay in Barcelona. She's really kind and would do everything she can to help you during your stay.
You're just in front of the plaza del sol in Gracia, it's perfect. The room is tiny but it's worth it ;) Thank you Olga !
I completely adored my time in Barcelona with Olga, Jan and Minerva. I wanted to spend two weeks living like a local and Olga was the perfect hostess to help me accomplish that. First of all, the barrio Gracia is the perfect neighbourhood to have a home base to explore Barcelona. There are no Ramblas-type tourist traps here and it is only a 30 minute walk to Plaça Catalunya. And if walking is not for you (although in Barcelona it was my preferred mode of transportation) 2 minutes away is Fontana station which is 3 stops to Plaça Catalunya, and a mere 10 minutes walk to Joanic station will bring you to the beaches. Barceloneta beach is just 6 stop away. I usually started my day with a coffee in the Plaça del Sol and them went exploring the city. I then came back during the last rays of sunshine for a beer or sangria and then decided on a restaurant for the evening. The variety and quality in Gracia is just amazing. Olga was very helpful to help me find what I needed in the area, whether it be a yoga studio or and english language bookshop. She also cooked for me and Yan a few times and it was yummy! Olga is an awesome cook! If you're a cat lover, like me, you will completely fall head over heels with Minerva. It is so relaxed at Olga's place that you feel like a roommate, not a tourist guest. I had a great time and I truly hope to go back soon.
Olga was very helpful in advising places to go and in trying to arrange a taxi. Also welcomed me into her little get together party with her nice friends which was good of her. Her English is great which is a big help.
It's in a very funky area with pretty easy access to all the main places by Metro.
However, I must advise future guests that if you have a dislike of cigarette smoke then it might not be appropriate for you. Also the 'cosy' room is just a place to lay your head (very small) and the door does not fully close or lock. For slightly older guests this flat MAY be a challenge as there is quite a bit of activity and you hear everything.
If you want to be in the thick of it, it might be perfect for you.
It is of course very cheap too.
Olga is a great person. Always willing to help or assist you! The flat is big and there is a lot of space for anyone. Sharing the kitchen or bathroom is no problem - anything easygoing.
The room is very little but there's enough space for clothes and everything else. The best of all: Olga is a great cook!! Maybe she will so Tortilla de Patata or Chorizo con Lentejas :)
Thanks for everything!!
