It is nice walk or bike around downtown Palo Alto. If you have to visit nearby towns the best way to get around is to rent a car. There is barely public transportation in Palo Alto.

What a great house! We had a fantastic time. Elies and his sister Clara were super helpful and took care of everything. Thank you very much! Also, the location is perfect for quick visits into Palo Alto as well as SF (due to being close to 101)
The reservation was canceled 42 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We flew in from Singapore for a week of meetings in the bay area and we arrived a bit late from our flights but Clara was there in an instance and introduced us to the lovely property. It felt like our home and we really enjoyed the stay. Aside from a small issue with a broken water heater which could not be repaired over a long holiday weekend all was perfect and I can totally recommend to stay there. Elies, Clara thank you for your hospitality and tip next time :)
Elies was fast in response. The house is in perfect position next to University Ave. in Palo Alto.
Thanks to Elies for letting us stay an extra night. Loved the place so much we didn't wanna leave :)
What a beautiful home! Our team—‚which was in town for Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian's Without Their Permission Book Tour—loved the place. Communication and location was great, look forward to booking here again in the future.
We were in a real bind to find a place to stay near Stanford hospital at the last minute (all PA hotels were booked and not much else available on airbnb). Elies came through for us and was very responsive in accepting our booking and relieving our biggest concerns. Elies’s sister met us when we arrived -- she was very friendly and kind, even bringing some books and toys for my daughter to play with.
Overall, we had a good stay. The house really does have a lot of charm and potential. It’s on the end of a street in a quiet area right along side a creek (unfortunately dry this year) — a really beautiful location surrounded by trees and nature. The isolation, size and location close to Stanford were exactly what we were looking for. The house was clean and has been completely renovated with modern appliances and furnishings making the stay comfortable.
However, it is an older house, so along with charm and character, there are some minor character flaws to be expected as well: e.g., hot water can take a long time to get hot, water pressure can be weak, and the old-style gas furnace is located right next to the master bed exploding with a bang when it turns on (annoying at night).
There are 2 spacious bedrooms, but there is limited privacy between the two — fine for a family but maybe not everyone. The spiral staircase descends from the living area directly into the master bedroom (1 queen bed). Then, there is then a door directly off the master bedroom to another bedroom with 2 twin beds. The master bath is shared between both bedrooms via separate entrances on either side. Note, there is also a full bathroom upstairs off the living room with a roomy shower stall, rain shower and hand shower. Also the photos shown were staged with slightly different furnishings than are there now, but it’s still pleasant.
The garden paths are nice and our toddler enjoyed walking around, looking at flowers and the resident squirrel. Note for people w/ small kids, there is one place where there is a very steep drop to the creek bed, so keep those little ones close. The carport is located on the opposite side of the garden from the house, so if you have a lot to carry there, it’s about 20m along a narrow path to reach the house.
Given our situation and lack of options, we had a good stay, but I have to admit that some of the minor problems become more annoying at the $400/night price point. Maybe I just had too high expectations, so hope this helps set expectations for others.
