Nice private room in cosy '30 style house in a very popular district of Nijmegen.
At walking distance there are several café's, diners and supermarkets.
Also the busstop is very nearby and will take you to the center/trainstation in 10 minutes.
The guest room has a comfortable double bed (140*200), a sitting corner, free wifi and a water cooker to make your own coffee/tea.
Free parking space is available and it's also possible to rent a bike (for 3,50 per day).
Guests can use the bathroom and the kitchen area (with a fridge, stove, microwave/oven, Senseo etc.)
There is also a balcony.
There is a direct bus connection to Berg en Dal where you can take different hiking routes through the forest or visit the Africa Museum.
Café Jos (recommanded at tripadvisor) is at walking distance.
For instance there's a lovely Thai restaurant, a vegetarian diner, a tapas bar, and very good Italian ice cream; all very nearby.
We have had a nice stay here. Marieke is a nice person, helpful, offering to rent a bike too and with possibility of using every equipment in the kitchen.
The place is even in a walking distance to the city centre, shops are around. Very beatuiful, quick and cheap way how to explore the dutch way of life. Place was cleaned, prepared for us, cups, glasses etc. plus the boiling kettle are included in the room itself.
I would definitely suggest this place and look around Nijmegen. The only disadvantage were the steep stairs, but if you don't have any disability, then it is not problem at all!
Thank you for having us there!
The room was very cozy, comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated.
Marieke is a nice and welcoming person, and the room is very nicely furnished and comfy. To make you even feel more at home, there's coffee and tea in the room. The house is a 25 minutes walk from the city center, but there's a bus stop nearby. I would definitely go back there if I were to return to Nijmegen.
Marieke hosted me in Nijmegen for 5 nights in January. I reaaly enjoy my stay in Nijmegen, the city is great and people are nice! Marieke's house is cosy and beautiful. Your host allows you to use the kitchen so that you cook your own stuffs. Marieke is helpfull and talkative, you can only have a good time in Nijmegen!
The room was nice and cozy (and warm! :)). It was nice seeing how an older dutch house looks like on the inside - narrow, with squeeky floors and steep stair. Marieke also provided us with some brochures and books about the Netherlands and offered to tell us more about the city and the surroundings. We liked the stay there very much.
I rent a room at Marieke's place for about a week, while looking for a constant place to live in Nijmegen where I moved recently. The room is pretty big, nicely furnished and has a lot of space for your stuff, it is full of light during the daytime, it is really quite and private. The location of the place is very good too - it takes around 20 mins to go to the center or to the university by feet, and only some 4-5 minutes to cycle there; the area is very calm and quite, but with everything one might need during the stay. Since Marieke allows to use the kitchen, it is good to have a good and cheap supermarket at hand (and it saves you a lot of money when you can cook something on your own instead of eating in restaurants three times a day!); note that really few hosts offer their kitchen for use by guests. Basically, living in Marieke's house makes you feel like home - you can cook, wash your clothes, park your bike just by your window (and be sure to find it there the next day!), chat with your host and always feel good. Marieke is a very nice person, easy and calm, always ready to help with any problem you are facing. I highly recommend you this place for the stay of any length, and I really liked the time I spent there!
