The flat is on the first floor of a edwarian block and looks onto the back of Devils Peak and at Rhodes Memorial and University of Cape Town. The grounds shares the border with the Presidents house which makes it really safe, beautifull and quiet. You can hear little crickets and frogs at night and church bells on sunday a few minutes from mountain access with walks , jogging tracks and (email hidden)s opposite a modernist block in neighbourhood thats lush and green with a heart beat.

Security : Its regularly patrolled by the police a block away, central district and various companies. Its is also 2 blocks form the secturity post for UCT and on one of the main roads from campus down to the rondebosch main roads & station.

Our block Selborne is one of three 2 storey edwarian blocks with a well maintained garden to barbeque or picnic and plenty of mint for summer drinks & salads.
We are on the Second floor facing the mountain, the block is mixed in age, race and is relaxed.

Once up the stair and hallway:

Open plan Lounge kitchen
The lounge contains 2 sofa, an ottoman, and a chair and two large kelims in it - with a hifi, bookshelves with small design & art library.. Sorry, no TV though but full fast wifi, screens and dvd available.

I like to share my discoveries from auctions, travels and love of the sea and nature in the flat. The blankets are all Basotho tribal blankets inspired by my trip to Lesotho, amongst many others.

Dining & work : we have 2 glass tables , comfortably 4 to eat or spread out to study.

Kitchen facility: Basic with good pots,oven-microwave, a stove-top espresso maker, a stove-top kettle, juicer, blender come smoothy maker, toaster, and plenty of crockery and cutlery. I have a new washing machine and we hire in a domestic for ironing and cleaning weekly.

A simple hand made luxury muesli and fruit breakfast and fresh juice / tea and coffee is available.

Bathroom: I have a huge bathtub to soak in, its full of salts, candles, plants, bottles and object de art and small window with sky view to enjoy.

A shower as a raindance hans grohe head and good fittings for a good morning start.

The bedrooms:
Is there any better feeling than slipping into a freshly made bed, as the laundered linen envelops you in a comforting hug? Good quality bedding helps make your bedroom the serene sanctuary it should be, so you can drift blissfully into dreamland for a good night’s rest.
a modest sized rectangular shaped room.. Great side mountain views of university and the mountain from the bed and desk. The breezy sunny room has a double bed with good mattress, desk, with leather, glass & chrome side tables clean 1930s' bauhaus furniture & wassily chair. Double door in to the lounge.North facing with columns and large windows covering wall to wall after hip height in

Second bedroom.

Overlooks the gardens and view to sky. Its a very compact room, warm with yellow & crete stone walls.
It features teak collectors cupboard, Phillipe starkes Bubu side table with poise light and memory foam spring mattress to fall asleep in.

In summer the apartment is nice and cool.

When you come down the stairs, you can take in the great mountain view. You're a minute's walk through the green trees from the main road to easily catch taxis or buses into town.

- About another minute you'll come through the church grounds down more stairs and you'll be on Main road Rondebosch. Across you Italian restaurant, fish shop, old drinking fountain and a bustling student village with many diverse bar/restaurant venues and coffee shops. There will be all amenities, banks, 2 shopping centers for every budget. But for any else or other main tourist thing else - you'll need a car, or use the taxis from the main road, or phone a taxi to get around, or rent a bicycle - it takes about 25 minutes to cycle into town, or 10 minutes to cycle into Newlands Forest cycle track or up to Rhodes Memorial for a Tea or lunch.

The area:

You'll be in Rondebosch, the main historical student town of the country. Its' lush leafy area with the Baxter theater one of the countries top theater on your doorstep with its small market on weekends.

Upper Rondebosch - the area our apartment is in - is removed from the hustle and bustle of Main Road and is nice and quiet.
Its' mountainous with the forest as your doorstep. Rich with history, the area has colonial and cape architecture, opposite us a classic modernist block, has a student freshness and mix of peoples, vibrant and is central to the peninsula.

When you stay with me I want you to feel at home and its cosy space. I have travelled extensively myself and will be more than willing to help you make the most of your time in our beautiful and interesting city.
If you are travelling on business and need a place which feels like home this room offers you time to relax.

Interaction with guests

A warm, knowledgable and welcoming born and breed Capetonian. I have all the inside information to make a great trip...! and can recommend great things to do from surfing to climbing table mountain to the art gallery & design circuit & local neighbourhood goods markets.

The neighborhood

In this neck of the woods its leafy & relaxed- you can here chirps & frogs at night with a mix of people in a lush mountainous suburb. @ blocks being just off main road is the student buzz in the country, with a variety of sopts to explore, jazz house restaurant, cheap chinese to pizza, vida e , reputable steak houses and the famous Baxter theater home of progressive theater with numerous productions on at any given time.
Ten minutes from CBD, waterfront, or claremont , national gardens and Newlands' forest for runs and swims.

Getting around

The main hub is a few minutes walk with has a range of taxis , busses and a total of ten minutes from the train station.

Excite & Unicab taxis are two good local cab companies owned by two Muslim brothers. Uber with their easy app is also used widely.

Ten minute drive from CBD , V&A waterfront , ten minutes from Woodstock with markets & galleries, ten minutes form Claremont and major shopping centers cavendish square and mediclinics. Local Food Places: (less than 5 minutes drive)

Other things to note

The guest house is typically serviced everymidweek around lunch time - our staff cleans all rooms and provides laundry service only on those unless otherwise agreed. Please take care of cleaning basics whilst you are there.

Laundry and ironing can be done for a hourly rate and the apartment is serviced with general cleaning needs to continue throughout your stay by yourselves. Otherwise you can use a agent - I recommend sweepsouth or domesty . You can sign up with your credit card and can specify your needs. they are efficient, reliable and on time.
(URL HIDDEN)
The apartment has a new bathroom but it is a renovated but old apartment with imperfections that provide character that can look a bit tacky to some who may be accustomed to say laminate floors and plastic more sterile environments.

The kitchen :

Is limited as open plan to the lounge but has everything.
to a 2 plate induction cooker & microwave -oven and then more only the basics more accustomed to a hotel.

With Bialletti Moca pots, grinder, kettle, toaster, microwave & blender for smoothies & lunch pack to take away.
It is basic, we have steel le creuset pots & pans and aluminuim alternatives with steamer. You can make basic artisanal or raw fresh meals but wont be cooking up a storm, warming up a storm in the microwave-convectiuon oven is possible.

We have 2 supermarkets with great meals a block away and a bustling main rd with many places of different varieties to eat from, take away or order in.

There is a washing machine and we expect guests to respect the fact that is not a hotel but a self-catering guest house e.g. no turn down service.
Tee extra rinse and fast cycle programmes is efficient and good for drying after and we have laundry turnstyles and several lines outside.
Please leave the washing machine open after so it dries out well.

Any questions or concerns about your stay please address to Michelle via the contact details provided.

It is the guests responsibility to respond to our reservation confirmation with flight details and approximate arrival time.

Checkin can be arranged preferably before 9pm and check-out before 10am unless otherwise arranged.
Please also remember to SMS/email/phone when you land at the airport so that we are able to welcome you at the premises on time.
Be nice :) ..& the garden is free for use and you can barbeque there and there is fresh mint, some basil & oreganum to pick for teas, pasta & salad.

We have 2 basic bicycles , a classic retro blue dame and a old mountain bike for leisurely rides, not for 60 degree slopes but super to explore the leafy area, visit the surrounding cafes for jazz, pattiseries at Cassis or waffle at the creamery, we have a josephines mill a beer in the area.
We also have a natural spring 5-10 min ride away where you can get water from.

Hello,

I am a designer, and architect,

I had a fine time dipping into all things Edwardian and nautical in this modern but classic apartment

I'd like to share my discoveries from auctions, travels and love of the sea in the flat. ... I explored the sea and was inspired by woods, glass of different shapes & metals and the sea.The blankets are all Basotho tribal blankets inspired by my trip to Lesotho, amongst many others.

I also love cooking and there is a huge & equipped kitchen for you to dine, blend, juice, detox or have
good coffee.

A long large dining room table for projects or workstations. ... ,a round table with sea views for breakfasts, reading, cocktail sunsets. People feel at home in the flat, enjoy it more each day and say its ambiance and character infuse them with something special.

You can feel free to have a look at to find out more about me.
